JAVA & SmartDoc Plug-in Installation Steps

(Only for those who are facing below issues while using SmartDoc / TDG)

If Webtop Content Transfer Extension is not installed on your laptop/desktop, you will see
below message in Internet Explorer (in top orange ribbon)

And you will get the below error while opening a document or performing any content
transfer operation-

Dear Colleague,
We have pushed the necessary plug-in on every Syngenta’s desktops & laptops on 27th Feb
2020, however, it seems for some of the users who never connected to office network after
27th Feb 2020 are not able to get this mandatory plug-in installed on their machine to work with
SmartDoc.
As most of the SmartDoc & TDG users are working from home since last month due to COVID-
19 situation, they will not get SmartDoc plug-in until they shop for it & keep their laptop
connected over VPN until JAVA & SmartDoc Plug in is installed (may take 4 hours). Steps in the
Option 1 below can be done by you itself without requiring any help from local IT engineer and
without raising an issue with IT helpdesk.

Please note, SmartDoc works only in Internet Explorer.


Option 1: (Please stay connected over VPN until JAVA & SmartDoc plug-in is getting installed
on your desktop/laptop)

In case you are getting JAVA related errors , content transfer extension or native client
installation popup in Internet Explorer, you need to shop below two packages from Syngenta’s
shopping tool strictly in below sequence. You need not to contact your local IT helpdesk OR
visit Walk-in Center to install these packages.

1. First shop for JAVA Version: Java_32Bit_8.0.1610.12 from below link

2. Wait for 20 minutes so that JAVA gets installed on your machine & then Shop for
SmartDoc 16.4 package from below

3. Please restart your computer after 15 min & check if SmartDoc is working fine

If you are still getting issues with SmartDoc / TDG, please follow the steps in Option 2 on next
page.
Option 2 (Only if you are working from Home & using VPN to connect to SmartDoc):

Step1: Please raise an incident with IT Helpdesk to install the necessary plug-in on your
laptop / desktop. Below steps can be only performed by Local IT Service Engineer.
Local IT engineer to uninstall previously installed Java from user’s machine. You can
found below in Control panel -> Programs and Features”

Step2: Uninstall the “OpenText Documentum Webtop Browser Helper


Object” and “Native Setup” & restart the machine.

Step 3: Copy both Java & BHO installable from network folder, click this
link: \\CHBSDCZC9177BC3\Users\t954494\Downloads\Webtop-BHO-P20 

Step 4: First install JAVA & then BHO

Step 5: Open Internet Explorer & open SmartDoc EAME using below
link http://smartdoc.eame.syngenta.org/
You will see below pop-up in Internet explorer. Click Install

You will see a pop-up to enter Admin credentials & get this (Native client) installed.

Step 6: Restart the machine & check if SmartDoc is working fine. SmartDoc Link is
same as old one (http://smartdoc.eame.syngenta.org/)
