A. INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this project is to bring the best condition out of an old folks’ home. With proper maintenance
and care, the location would look much vibrant than ever while promoting the community. With senior
citizens ending up there due to tragic and depressing reasons, we as a community need to do our best and
ensure that they are living a great quality of life without any regrets or sadness coming across their minds.
B. TEAM MEMBERS
There are six members in total overlooking this project. The names of these members and their roles and
responsibilities are as stated:
• Lim Chang Jet- Will handle most of the planning and distribute tasks when needed. Will mostly do
house chores around the building such as wiping the windows and sweeping the floor.
• Amelia Watson- Will survey the area of the location and identify any issues needed to be resolved
such as sweeping up the litter, painting rusty gates or aged walls, identifying mosquito breeding
grounds if any, etc.
• Akai Haato- Will lead in cleaning the drainages and ensure no blockage is preventing the water flow.
• Kurumi Tokisaki- Will assist in cleaning the drainages.
• Uruha Rushia- Will lead in tending to the garden and plants by watering them and adding fertiliser to
the soil.
• Shirakami Fubuki- Will assist in tending to the garden and plants. In addition, she will look out for
weeds to pull to assure nutrients are not robbed and does not damage the other plants.
D. PROPOSED PROJECT
One of the aims is to provide any assistance on whatever help is required such as cleaning the drainage and
tidying up the facilities of old folks’ home. Other than that, another objective is to give proper care to the
garden by tending to the plants. Past community service projects include painting walls, setting up workshops,
refurnishing van as a recreational space, expanding gardening area and improving washroom areas. Activities
proposed can be completed within a single weekend if there are no interferences to the schedule. We, as
students, would benefit from this by acknowledging the consequences of leaving the elderly in an old folks’
home. Hence, bringing proper awareness on appreciating our parents and grandparents more especially when
they get older. On the other hand, the partner involved would benefit by receiving support from students
providing a helping hand to the elderly while improving the facilities. In addition, it would also help them save
costs from hiring labourers doing the work.

F. RISK MANAGEMENT
In comparison to other activities proposed, cleaning the drainage is considered as the most dangerous
activity due the usage of cleaning agents and the possibilities of toxic liquid present in drainage systems. This
can be rectified by wearing safety gloves, goggles and rubber boots to prevent any harm from chemical
splashes. Moreover, utilising gardening tools could also be dangerous as some can be very sharp and
potential accidents could occur. This can be solved by wearing gardening gloves and following proper safety
steps given from the partner. Most important of all, we must respect the partner and the elderly people
staying there.
G. CONCLUSION
The committee should approve the proposed activities because this would bring a lively atmosphere and
promote a hygienic environment with environmental responsibility and ethics. Additionally, it would also
improve the livelihoods of elderly people living there. The total funding for this project would costs Rm731
after rounding off the value. This is considered inexpensive and cost effective in comparison to previous
projects proposed.
