IOT in HVAC
1. Overview
Automation and Controls (BMS) in the field of HVAC has been a given technology for last few decades. In the
coming decade the industry is looking up to benefit from advances in the field of IOT (internet of things).
While both technologies talk about sensors, controllers and actuators, the perspective might be different.

BMS has been focused more on providing the controls where necessary. We believe IOT has additional
offerings in Energy Management, data analytics, trend analysis Communication between controllers using
wifi , LoRa and internet technologies allowing usage of such devices far beyond automation. Our imagination
is the limit for implementing and making best use of these devices.

IOT devices are slowly making their presence felt in the market. IOT does not have to carry on a legacy and
standards which are being followed by control systems. There is a greater scope for out of the box thinking
and agility in using the newer electronic technologies entering the market at a breath taking speed.

2. About Diligent
Diligent eSolutions Pvt. Ltd. Is a software company focused on creating IOT and mobile software solutions
for the MEP industry. The founders has many decades of experience in Software development, MEP Projects
and Facility Management and Electronics.

Diligent is working on few IOT products for data monitoring (and control) and preventive maintenance.

In addition to the usage of new technology, we are trying to engineer these products in close communication
with few industry experts. We believe in addition to providing the products in a customizable form , we will
be able to offer a cost advantage to the MEP industry.

We wish to work with SMEs in the MEP industry to enable their equipment with IOT providing them a
competitive edge over others.

One of such products is currently nearing finalization. We will like to interact with the industry participants
to ensure that the basic features of the product are close to the perceived needs of the markets in embracing
IOT.

3. IOT enabled AHU

We will like to IOT enable the AHUs (and/or ventilation fans) by providing

• A wireless sensor network collects the data and sends the same a consolidating device (gateway)
• Data can optionally be used by actuators installed as part of the unit to control the airflow (fan)/
water flow
• The gateway forwards the data to a central network of the company or a service provider for
maintaining a log of readings
• The maintenance managers can inspect the data from the sensors and draw insights from it. Artificial
intelligence can be added for preventive maintenance or routine maintenance calls
• Portable Devices, such as mobile phones or tablets will allow users to access and manage their HVAC
appliances remotely. They will also be able to monitor/ alter thresholds for various types of alerts.

4. Data Gathering (Sample Screen)

These Sensors are already incorporated.
Different or more sensors (like Vibration / Current/ rpm/
bearing temperature sensors) can be incorporated based
on Industry inputs

5. Exception Alerts
Multiple/ Actionable Alerts can be Sent to specified
devices / people as mobile messages or email

6. Server Data Analytics (work in Progress

We are working on the server data analysis based on the sample data collected. Expect to revert soon
on this feature.
