HOW TO ACCESS NBCC STRUCTURAL COMMENTARIES (USER'S GUIDE -

NBC 2015: PART 4 OF DIVISION B)

The following is a set of instructions on how to access our subscription to a pdf version of the
NBCC Structural Commentaries. Note that only one user can access the "remote computer" at a
time. So if you are finished using it, please logoff properly so that others can access. Also note
that you will need to be connected via VPN in order to access the remote computer from home.

STEP 1:

Go to the search box in the bottom left hand corner of your screen and type in "remote". Select
the "Remote Desktop Connection" app.

STEP 2:

In the Computer box, enter "TORPCP01". Log in with your usual credentials and password. Note
that if this is the first time you are doing this, it will take a while for your settings to be prepared on
this remote computer. Be patient! The remote computer may try to set you up with teams and
other apps. You can close or quit these on the remote screen to speed things up.

STEP 3:

Open File Explorer, and navigate to:

C:\Users\Public\Public Documents

There should be two documents in the folder. Select both and copy to the remote desktop. That
way it will be accessible directly from the desktop when you log in next time.

STEP 4:

Read the instructions file first. Then proceed to open the pdf. Note that this file is secured to this
remote computer, and you may be limited to what you can do with it.

STEP 5:

Sign out per instructions when you are done.
