Part II.
Instruction: Differentiate the following. Each item corresponds to 10 points

1. Assessment AS learning, Assessment OF learning, and Assessment FOR

learning

Assessment AS learning : it's essential in a digital age where information is

readily accessible and teachers move from being the "knowledge-bearers" to
knowledge-guides. Just as teachers guide students through the acquisition of
knowledge, they must guide students through the process of understanding their
own cognitive processes so that students learn to monitor their own learning and
make adjustments.

Assessment OF learning : it's refers to students know, demonstrate whether or

not they have met curriculum outcomes or the goals of their individualized
programs, or to certify proficiency and make decisions about students' future
programs or placements.

Assessment FOR learning : it's an approach to teaching and learning that

creates feedback which is then used to improve students' performance. Students
become more involved in the learning process and from this gain confidence in
what they are expected to learn and to what standard.

2.
Essay, Matching Type and Oral questioning.

Essay : it's an analytic or interpretative literary composition usually dealing with

its subject from a limited or personal point of view also a short formal piece of
writing.. dealing with a single subject.

Matching Type: it's an test -measures the ability to identify the relationship
between a set of similar items, each of which has two components, such as
words and their definitions, symbols and their meanings, dates and events,
causes and effects, people and their accomplishments.

Oral questioning : this are method involves the teacher probing students to
think about what they know regarding a topic. Questions typically allow the
teacher to keep a discussion focused on the intended objective and maintain
student involvement

3. Mean, Median and Mode

Mean : the "mean" is the "average" you're used to, where you add up all the
numbers and then divide by the number of numbers. The "median" is the
"middle" value in the list of numbers. ... If no number in the list is repeated, then
there is no mode for the list.

Median: is the middle number in a sorted, ascending or descending, list of

numbers and can be more descriptive of that data set than the average.

Mode: it's the value that appears most frequently in a data set also a set of data
may have one mode, more than one mode, or no mode at all.

Part III.

Instruction: Solve the following problems. 10 points each.

Problem 1.
There are 45 students in section Marcos of STNHS who answered the first item (X) in
their math exam, 17 of them answered the item correctly. What is the difficulty index
and the level of difficulty of the item?

Formula : P= No. of students who selected the correct answer

EDUC 107: ASSESSMENT IN
LEARNING 1
Total No. of students who answered the item

Solution : P= 17/45= 0.37 Therefore, the item is difficult

Problem 2.
First Question : 24 Di - very good item
30 Ldi - Easy
= 0.80
Second Question : 12 Di- very good item
30 Ldi= Difficult
=0.40

Get the Difficulty Index and the Level of Difficulty of each item.
ITEM Option A Option B Option C Option D
First question
0 3 24(correct 3
answer)

Second
Question 12 (correct 13 3 2
answer)

Problem 3.
50 students in section Rizal are divided into 2 groups; 25 students in the lower group
and 25 students in the upper group. In the upper group, there are 18 students who
answered item X correctly whereas, in the lower group, there are only 9 students
answered the item X correctly.
• What is the discrimination index?
• Will the item be revised, rejected or retained? Why?
• Is the item a very good, marginal or a poor item? Why?

LEARNING 1
Problem 3:
Pu= 18/25 = 0.72
Pi= 9/25 = 0.36
D= 0.72-0.36

D= 0.36
0.36 items are restrained because the descrimination index is 0.36 it is
reasonable a good item but possibly subject to improvement.
Problem 4

Scores of 20 students in English 1 quiz consist of 45 items. The highest score is 45 and
the lowest score is 9. Here are the raw scores: 45, 35, 35, 28, 28, 27, 27, 20, 20, 17, 15,
14, 14, 14, 13, 13, 13, 10, 10, 9. Find the mean, median and mode of the following
scores

Problem 4:

Raw Score: 45, 35, 35, 28, 27, 27, 20, 20, 17, 15,14,14,14,13, 13, 13, 10, 10, 9

Solution:
6x x be the scores, and N be the number of scores

Mean= Mx
N
Mean= 45+35+35+28+28+27+27+20+20+17+15+14+14+14+13+13+10+10+9
20
Mean= 407
20
Mean= 20.35

Median:
Since the number of scores is even, well divided two from the sum of the two
middlemost scores.

Median= 10th score + 11th score

2
Mdian= 15 + 17
2
Median= 32
2
Median= 6

Mode = 14 and 13
The two score appeared the most frequent time and since it consists of two
modes, it is called bimodal.
