AIR CONDITIONING DESIGN

Mapua University North/Northwest Building, 1st – 4th Floor


Design the centralized air conditioning system (Chilled Water System) using the
following data / conditions:

1. Summer month - April


2. Exposure - 12° Degree North Latitude
3. Sun Time - 1 P.M.
4. Daily Range - 16° F
5. Summer Ambient Temperature - 95° FDB and 80° FWB
6. Inside Room Design
Classrooms/AV rooms - 76° FDB and 50% RH
Offices/Faculty - 74° FDB and 50% RH
Shops & Laboratory(Pilot Plant) - 76° FDB and 50% RH
Library (with air distribution ducts)- 74° FDB and 50% RH
Bookstore - 74° FDB and 50% RH
Clinic - 74° FDB and 50% RH
Canteen - 72° FDB and 50% RH
Corridor - 78° FDB and 50% RH
7. Glass Windows - Regular glass medium colored
With or without inside cloth
Outer windows exposed to heat: 173 cm

9. Outside Walls - Hollow Concrete Block
Sand and gravel aggregate
8 inch thick, no interior finish
10. Roof: North -Concrete Slab 6 inch thickness
With 2 inch Fiber-board insulation
- Slab(3rd floor) & Almunimum sheet (4th floor)
11. Ceiling - Acoustic tile
12. Partition - Hollow concrete block, 8 inch thick
13. Floor - Concrete Floor 8 inch thick sand Agg.
14. Floor to Floor Height - 4 meters
15. Floor to Ceiling Height - 3 meters
16. Apply the factor with sash and with diversity factor.
17. Safety factor & Bypass factors - 10%
18. Lighting Load (utilizes electronic ballast) - 2 x 32 Watts T- 8 (elect. ballast)
per fixture or 2 x 28 Watts T-8 Magnetic Ballast
