Installation Standards and Codes
The ONYX® FIRSTVISION has been designed to comply
with standards set forth by the following regulatory
agencies:
• Underwriters Laboratories Standard UL 864
• NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm Code
• CAN/ULC - S527-99 Standard for Control Units for
Fire Alarm Systems
• ULC S524 Standard for the Installation of Fire Alarm
Systems
The contents of this document are important and must be
kept in close proximity to the hardware. If building
ownership is changed, this document and all other
testing and maintenance information must also be
passed to the current owner of the facility. A copy of this
document is shipped with the ONYX® FIRSTVISION and is
also available from the manufacturer.
WARNING:Improper installation, maintenance, or lack of
routine testing could result in system malfunction.
Performing the following steps will accomplish mounting
the ONYX® FIRSTVISION and the power supply
components, and also the wiring connection between
them.
Step 1. Mounted the panel on an inside wall of a
building. Building construction and local building
codes dictate installation parameters. Panel
dimension are shown on the reserve side of this
document in Figure 1.1.
Step 2. Mount the AMPS 24/E and the batteries in a BB-
100 Mounting as described in the AMPS-24/E
Manual.
NOTE:It is recommend that power be turned-on to the AMPS
24/E and ONYX® Insight after the Ethernet (TCP/IP) Network
and the NFN Gateway connections have been made.
Step 3. Open and locate the terminal power strip inside
the ONYX® FIRSTVISION cabinet as shown on
the reserve side of this document in Figure 1.2.
Step 4. Wire the AMPS 24/E to the terminal strip on the
ONYX® FIRSTVISION cabinet as shown on below.
TB6 provides 1 amp, power-limited, when
the +5V output is not being used. Do not
use the +5V output at the same time.

UL 9th Edition Compliance

This product has been certified to comply with the
requirements in the Standard for Control Units and AMPS 24/E
Accessories for Fire Alarm Systems, UL 864 9th Edition.
Operation of this product with products not tested for UL ONYX® FIRSTVISION
864 9th Edition has not been evaluated. Such operation
requires the approval of the local Authority Having
Cabinet
Jurisdiction (AHJ).

NOTE:The AMPS-24/E Power Supply has not received

UL 864 9th Edition certification. Step 5. Refer to ONYX® FIRSTVISION Operating and
Programming Manual (52442) for information
about connecting the ONYX® FIRSTVISION with
building systems.
Environmental Conditions
The ONYX® FIRSTVISION must be installed in the
following environmental conditions:
• Temperature range of 0ºC - 50ºC (32ºF - 120ºF).
• 10-95% humidity non-condensing at 30ºC (86ºF).
• Vibration of 10-50Hz, 0.5G Peak to Peak
• Shock 15G, 11ms maximum
