1.10 Self Diagnosis

1.10.1 Outline

The test system is used to identify defective sections of the system. The following sections can
be checked for defects.

(1) CPU section : DIGITAL PWB

(2) DSC section : DIGITAL PWB

(3) T&R section : PBCNN1 PWB

PULSER PWB
RECEIVER PWB

(4) PANEL

(5) MAINTENANCE

Test results are displayed as error codes or patterns that provide information for
determining whether each section is defective.

Testing is mainly performed for the CPU, DSC, T&R, and PANEL.
The main systems for imaging can be checked, although not all units are covered. The
identification of defective sections is simplified during troubleshooting, reducing work time.

For maintenance service work, it is possible to detect loss of performance due to defects in
the ultrasound transmission/reception system that are difficult to detect in routine
examinations or abnormalities related to addresses.

The number of cycles of testing can also be specified to allow problems that occur rarely
due to memory errors to be detected.

1.10.2 Precautions related to the overall test system

(1) When performing testing, connect the specified transducer (PVG-366M).

(2) Do not connect/disconnect the transducer during testing to prevent malfunction.

(3) Transient phenomena are displayed during testing. This is not abnormal.

(4) The time, ID area, and hospital name are not cleared. The indication of the contents of the
ID is cleared.

(5) Most switches are disabled during testing. However, operating the image quality
adjustment (IP) switch may cause the system to malfunction.

(6) When the ENTER key is pressed during CPU graphic check, the upper right part of the
image may drop out. This is not abnormal.

Dropout

(7) Either of the two lines for time indication may not be displayed at the end of the CPU
graphic check. This is not abnormal.

A correct checksum value must have been registered in order to perform the CPU ROM
check (registered at the time of shipment from the factory). The following three registration
methods are available.

(a) Setting by MAINTENANCE checksum registration

Refer to subsection 9.12 "MAINTENANCE".

(b) Setting by DIP switch

When setting is performed using the DIP switch, the preset data is also initialized.
Record the preset data before operating the DIP switch and restore the data after
DIP switch setting is completed.

<1> Set bit 3 of the DIP switch on the CPU PWB to ON.

<2> Turn ON the power of the system.

<3> When the message "INITIALIZE PRESET DATA ARE YOU SURE?" is
displayed, press the "Y" key.

<4> After the initial screen for B-mode images is displayed, set bit 3 of the DIP
switch to OFF.

(c) Setting by SYSTEM setup

When setting is performed using SYSTEM setup, the preset data is also initialized.
Record the preset data before SYSTEM setup and restore the data after SYSTEM
setup is completed.

<1> Select "3 SYSTEM SETUP" in the MAINTENANCE menu.

<2> Change the setting of "DIP SW No. 3" to ON.

<3> Restart the system.
