2. TROUBLESHOOTING
The AC input is supplied to the power supply unit through the ISO-TRANS unit. To the
peripheral units, the power is supplied via the external output (isolation). The power unit
outputs ±5 V, ±12 V, and VH for the analog system and +5 V and +12 V for the digital system.
(a) PB-CNN : Connects the transducer connector and the PULSER PWB by the PWB.
(b) PULSER : Generates the ultrasound transmission high-voltage pulse and amplifies
the received ultrasound signals by the control data from the RECEIVER
PWB.
(c) RECEIVER : Performs phasing/addition and other signal processing for the received
signals after they are amplified in the PULSER PWB and then outputs
the echo signals to the DIGITAL PWB. This PWB has the MTX-SW, R-
DELAY, ECHO-FILTER, and RECEIVER T/R CONT functions.
(4) Keyboard
The output of the ECG amplifier is sent to the DIGITAL PWB by the PPM only in M mode.
The ECG output is added to the echo signals on the DIGITAL PWB and the ECG waveform is
displayed on M mode images.
(6) RS-232C
The system is provided with an RS-232C-IF channel for data transmission/reception with an
external computer.
After this option is installed, two transducers can be connected to the system (only one
transducer can be connected in the standard configuration).
A minimum of 32 frames can be read. Cine loop playback and frame-feed playback are
possible.

The test program installed in the system operates on the premise that the power supply unit,
operating panel, monitor, and software are functioning normally. This subsection describes the
troubleshooting procedures related to the power supply and problems that cannot be checked by
the test program.
(1) Push-type breakers are used for the power unit and the ISO-TRANS unit. These breakers
are set to OFF by pushing the knob.
(2) A short-circuit protection circuit is installed in the output (secondary side) of the power unit. If
this circuit detects an abnormality in the output of the power unit, it turns OFF all of the power
supplies and stops the internal fans.
(3) When troubleshooting is completed, wait for at least 5 minutes before turning the system
power ON again.
Turn the system power ON. Note: If an abnormal smell is noted, stop this troubleshooting
procedure and identify the source of the abnormal smell.
