Man’s best friend

I once had a friend,

He was quiet.
But loud in his own way,
He was always there,
But never in the way.
The best friend for a man,
Gave all his love,
And never asked for much.
Unfortunately,
Everything must come to an end.
In my yard does he rest,
My dog,
A man’s best friend.
