Part 1. COURSE DESCRIPTION


Rationale: This is an outcomes-based course prepare students with what it takes to
direct the day to day operations of vital department from “big picture”
management down to technical details. Students learning experience is
enhanced by industry driven case studies, listings of web sites related to course
materials and articles.

Focus: To provide students with a system approach to managing housekeeping


operations in the hospitality industry. Of interest of those interested in the
housekeeping operations, industry, or pursuing a career in the hospitality
industry.

Outcome: Students are expected to learn that housekeeping management is


intended to equip the present or future housekeeping manager with skills on
planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the flow of housekeeping
operations. The students should know the importance of a housekeeper to
have the guidelines on the templates to make a reliable and efficient
operational system to work on.

1. Regular attendance is required for all students. 3 unexcused absences will mean
automatically dropped from the subject.
2. Wearing of the University student’s ID and uniform at all times is required for all the
students except when having field activities.
3. Active Participation individually and in group is expected.
4. Tardiness is equivalent to one day absence.
5. Student shall abide the instructor’s/ professor’s policy on the submission of learning outputs
based on the metrics and deadlines given.
6. Each is entitled to share his ideas; has the chance to correct errors of ways; and prove ideas
or issues worthy studying provided it is not intending any harm.
