Reflection Paper

My classroom observation time was a blast. Going to Chisum Elementary to observe

Mrs. England’s kindergarten students really opened up my eyes. Seeing how the students interact

with Mrs. England and how they were all eager to learn is so encouraging to me. One of the

biggest reasons I'm encouraged to teach is having the opportunity to see students excel. Mrs.

England’s class really gave me so many benefits of preparing me for the future.

From the first day that I came to Mrs. England’s class she taught me so much. I was

taught many ways she would get the whole class to focus and interact with her. The way she

interacted with the students was positive. She would get every student to participate, even the

ones that were not raising their hands. Which is something that I really enjoyed seeing that not

one of the students got left behind. Something that I also seem to notice is that a teacher's

personality comes into play when teaching kindergarten students. In other words, finding fun

ways to teach the will get them more involved and interested in joining in.

During my observation hours I did tend to notice that more than one learning style was

used during lessons and a few assignments as well. The two learning styles that Mrs. England

used are auditory and kinesthetic styles. Throughout the lessons they seemed to pay attention

more if they would have something to do in front of them. As listening to the subject, as well as

practicing their listening skills going through the paper with the teacher. I also noticed once she

gave the students the chance to finish a section of the paper, they wouldn't have many questions

because they would already know how to solve the problem given. If I were to choose if the

lesson were student centered or teacher center, I would say a little of both.

Being able to go and observe a kindergarten classroom was in a way preparing me on

what to see in the students as well on how to teach certain lessons. My overall experience was

exterminatory being able take notes and take a little practice for the future is helpful in many

ways. Mrs. England taught me that as a future teacher I’m going to encounter some challenges

but, if you love teaching students you will always find ways to get through it. After the

observation hours I still would love to be a teacher. Being able to teach and prepare students for

the future is something that I want to do. At the end of it all I’m going to take all the tips given to

me from the observation hours and pursue them in my future classroom.
