Sampling Method
Sampling Method
In this research, the targeted population are those students who are currently enrolled in
Far Eastern University-Manila under Bachelor of Science in Nursing from first-year level up to
the third-year level. The strata are categorized according to their education level and the mode of
learning they applied to which is the Mixed Online Learning or MOL. The goal is to be able to
differentiate the effects and the extent of impact of the new learning mode to the mental
The sampling method to be used in this quantitative study is stratified random sampling.
According to Nickolas (2020), it is a method of sampling that involves dividing a population into
smaller groups–called strata. The groups or strata are organized based on the shared
probability that each unit in a particular group of the population will be selected. To compute the
sample size using a stratified random sampling, the researchers communicate with the faculty to
obtain the census of the students in FEU-Institute of Nursing School Year 2020-2021 1st
semester. The eligibility criterion for this includes 1st to 3rd year nursing students, 18-21 years old
with AOL or MOL as their modes of learning. 4th year nursing students are excluded.

The participants of this study have a population size of 1,886. The target population has to be
30%. To compute for the target population, each of the no. of students in strata must be
multiplied by 0.3, add up the number of people in sample to obtain the 30% target population.
556 is the sample size from 1st year to 3rd year level.

In this formula, n is the number of samples, N is the total population, and e is the error margin or
margin of error. To use this formula, determine first the margin of error of the study. The error
tolerance of this study is 0.5, while the confidence level is 99.5. Next, get the squared value of
the error margin 0.5, multiply it with N, and add 1. Divide the denominator to the numerator to
