ABSTRACT

Social media is rapidly changing the communication setting of today’s social

world. It is commonly used by students for their academic and personal interests. The
emergent of social media is significantly affecting the lives of the students in various
ways such as on their social, behavioral, emotional, and spiritual aspects. Due to the
influence of social media, this study assumed that it gave a significant impact on the life
of the young generation today.
To know what are the effects of social media on students in Senior High School,
this study implored a qualitative approach in assessing these effects. 20 participants
were conveniently sampled and interviewed for two weeks. After studying the
phenomena that were of interest to the study, and transcribing the various responses of
the participants, the results revealed that social media had been widely used by
students in their studies and that participants supported the idea that social media
contributed a significant quota to the development on their life as a student.
