EXTRUSAL
It has been with great commitment and dedication

throughout these 40 years that we have gained the trust SACABAO-
of our Clients by providing aluminium profiles with high ARADAS

quality standards. We design, manufacture and 3810-454 AVEIRO

commercialise profiles in extruded aluminium for

application in Architectural Projects (casement systems, www.extrusal.pt

sliding, façade, shading, coverings, guardrails and

indoor) and for Industry in general (transports, energy,

engineering, household and office equipment, amongst

others). From receiving the billets, extrusion, machining,

surface treatment, to the accompaniment of the

aluminium to its destination, each phase is lead and

guaranteed by a team of skilled specialised

professionals. Extrusal possesses three presses (1,600

tons, 1,700 tons and 2,000 tons), each one with its own

production capacity and sophistication, totalling a yearly

extrusion capacity of 15,000 tons, depending on

productivity and the type of profile. The profiles are

extruded in alloys of the 6xxx series: 6060, 6063, 6061

and 6082, in accordance with the EN 573-3 standard,

being supplied to Clients in the solicited Metallurgic

States, in accordance with the EN 755-2 standard.

MACHINING The profiles are extruded in alloys of the

6xxx series: 6060, 6063, 6061 and 6082, in accordance

with the EN 573-3 standard, being supplied to Clients in

the solicited Metallurgic States, in accordance with the

EN 755-2 standard. • Alloy EN AW-6060 [AI MgSi] –

construction profiles (frames), automotive industry and

industry in general; • Alloy EN AW-6063 [AI Mg0,7Si] –

automotive industry and transports, and industry in

general; • Alloy EN AW-6061 [AI Mg1SiCu] –

components for machines and the automotive industry

and transports, amongst others, and for industry in

general; • Alloy EN AW-6082 [AI Si1MgMn] – structural

profiles for construction, industry in general and

transports, machining of pieces for the automotive

industry. The production of other alloys and special

Metallurgic States is also possible, in accordance with

the specifications of the Client and when requested by

the Client. An increase in requests from clients for

pieces which are able to be used immediately, lead

Extrusal to implement in its production process, the

machining of some profiles for Industry. The machining

(cutting, drilling and slitting of aluminium profiles) is

carried out according to the specifications requested by

the Clients. The profiles may measure between 150 mm

and 4000 mm obtained by precision cuts, which are

later drilled by hydraulic presses dedicated to each

piece. Quality control is maintained in each step of the

process. ANODISED This is an electrolytic process

which forms an oxide coating of a determined thickness

over the aluminium alloy. In products with a decorated

surface of the aluminium profiles, two sub-treatments

are commonly used: - Polished (resulting from a

mechanical treatment); - Brushed (resulting from a

chemical treatment). This process not only gives the

profiles the natural colour of the aluminium, but also a

spectrum of colours achieved through electrolytic

colouring, which ranges from champagne to black,

passing through the bronze colours. For aluminium

profiles for architecture, the conditions for the realisation

and quality of this treatment are based on directives and

standards which the products should respect. To this

effect the entity, Qualanod, exists in Europe to manage

the equally named quality branding and certify

manufacturers (with the participation of national

inspection entities – in the case of Portugal, LNEC) so

that they may present their brand for quality recognition.

LACQUERING Thermo-adherent paint process carried

out with polyester powder paints through which the

aluminium profiles may acquire varied colours in

function of the colour of the powder used. For this

surface treatment the European entity, Qualicoat, exists

to manage the equally named quality branding and

corresponding directives, as well as certify

manufacturers (with the participation of national

inspection entities – in the case of Portugal, LNEC) so

that they may present their brand for quality recognition.

Extrusal, with this certificate (No 808) since 1995,

ensures the fulfilment of the Qualicoat directives and the

observance of the following standards: ISO 2813, NP

EN ISO 1520, NP EN ISO 2409, NP EN ISO 2815, NP

EN ISO 1519 and NP 2360. DIES FACTORY The Dies

Factory is equipped with milling machines and a CNC

lathe, electro erosion by thread and by electrode

machines, amongst others. In 2011, an additional

investment was made in state-of-the-art technology,

specifically in an electro erosion machine, in response

to the increasing market demands. The dies play an

indispensable role in the extrusion process and

therefore their quality is ensured by the manufacturing

and maintenance processes of the dies. The profiles

themselves are verified in each extrusion by individuals

responsible for the Extrusion and the Technical

Department. It is the responsibility of the Extrusion

Department to approve the equipment in accordance

with the specifics agreed upon with the Clients. In order

to guarantee conformity in the profiles supplied, the

working life of the dies is controlled through their

performance and the evaluation of the real weight of the

extruded profile in each extrusion. The increasing

complexity of the products makes the manufacture of

dies an ever more relevant step in the extrusion process

of aluminium.
