Activity: Students were asked to make a reflection out of the topics being reported.
I chose the topics Values and Work Ethics, Filipino Value System and Family
Planning.

VALUES AND WORK ETHICS REFLECTION

Some values might be important to us and not important to others. It might be
important to others and not important to us. This thought truly instilled in my mind
upon sharing this topic in the class. I’m blessed and thankful because I have poured
knowledge and wisdom to the brilliant people. I considered them brilliant because all
of them are licensed in their different fields. I can see that they were really listening
and grasping the lesson even if they are equipped already. How down to earth these
people are. It motivated me during that time because they were very attentive in my
discussion. I see to it that upon leaving the four walls, we had knowledge to bring,
we had knowledge to share to the other individuals and if possible reflect it in our
daily living. Upon discussing values and work ethics, it made me realize my values
in life. The values that guide me throughout my journey in attaining my goals in life.
Some people think that I’m just too hard to myself in every tasks that was given to
me. I don’t find it hard because I’m used to it. Every activities, I see to it that my
output will excel so that I can influence other people in terms of doing such activity. It
is my value to give my very best in everything I do. So that at the end, I could spell
triumph. Surely, it will make me happy and proud of myself. Besides, our value will
help us in making judgement what is more important in our lives. It will help us to
prioritize things. Therefore, it is very significant for us to know our values.
Upon knowing our values, we must consider what is right and wrong in the
society. Ethics came here. Basically, some values are not acceptable in the society.
Therefore, this will be taken into consideration of each individuals. And an ethical
workplace plays a vital role in an individual’s professional advancement. Therefore,
employees who consistently demonstrate good work ethics are considered to be
valuable assets in a certain company. More companies today encourage employee
feedback and offer employees an opportunity to lead in their area of expertise just
like in the school where I have rendered my service. I believe that this will give us a
greater sense of satisfaction and a sense of control over our job. Moreover, to
maintain an ethical workplace is very important in order for us to grow personally and
professionally.
FILIPINO VALUE SYSTEM REFLECTION
This topic is quite connected to my topic which is values and ethics. Because
as I have said, our value system, depends on us. Depend on what is our belief and
outlook in this bumpy life. Besides, our environment has a great influence on what
we are valuing right now. It is very important to be surrounded with people who are a
great model in every aspects. Through this, there is a tendency that they will imitate
and reflect what the great people are believing and valuing in life. Cultural values are
shared assumption of what is right, good or important in a certain society. In my
case, my family, value so much in “Paggalang” and Hospitality wherein we are
taught to become respectful and hospitable individuals. I believe that being
respectful is mainly due to the influence of Christianity that tells us to honor both our
parents and our elders. I see it good to be valued so that this will be followed and
passed on to the next generation and this value will not be erased in the hearts of
the Filipinos. Besides, I’m certain that peace and tranquility will be observed in our
surroundings if we had respect in every individual we have met. Meaning, regardless
the status in life, everyone deserves respect and honor. In addition, there will be less
crimes that will occur and hopefully our place will progress.
Hospitality is also given emphasis in my place. It is observed mostly in fiesta
wherein most family, including us are really preparing for the said event. No matter
what it takes as long as all the visitors are taken cared of, this will make the owner of
the house happy and gratified. Truly, the essence of fiesta is really observed and
given valued. However, in our part, it didn’t came to the point that my family lend
money and any stuff just to make the celebration bongacious. What I admired most
is that whatever we have that would be all. We are not longing for stuffs that we can’t
afford unlike the other people. Anyway, it’s nothing to do with us. That is how they
have showed their value on celebrating fiesta. That is their ways. Let them be if that
will make them happy and satisfied.
As a citizen in the Philippines, I see it as a need for us to know and identify
what are our values in life and what are really our value system in order for us to be
guided in our actuations in daily living. I believe that this will make us happy and
gratified because we are doing the things that are more important in anything. We
are prioritizing the things that are more important for us therefore this will lead us to
happiness and as the quote said, we only live once therefore we must live to the
fullest.

FAMILY PLANNING REFLECTION

I would say that the topic itself is very interesting that is why I really lend my
ears to the knowledgeable reporter. I have observed that he really loved what he is
doing because it is implicit in his actions upon delivering the lesson and besides I
can see in his eyes the sincerity to help every individual. He has a great love in his
profession. In connection, it made the discussion interactive. The topic, family
planning is significant especially that the population in a certain place affects the
progress in the nation where these people resides. Everyone must be
knowledgeable regarding this matter. Even the young ones and even the people who
are not yet married. It doesn’t mean that when you are not yet experienced in this
stuff you will not open yourself regarding this matter but instead, be aware. The time
will come that you will be in this situation therefore it would not be hard for you to
face this because in the first place you already had a background. You’ve been
preparing these things to happen in the future. Besides, as the time goes by, your
knowledge will be added and when the time comes, you will not feel difficulty or in
the struggle at all.
By reducing the rates of unintended pregnancies, family planning also
reduces the need for unsafe abortion. It is really a great help to everyone. But people
must not abuse its help to us. They should not take this at an advantage that they
are going to do such act that is inappropriate. They should live purely and decently.
In addition to this, family planning reduces the risk of unintended pregnancies among
women living with HIV, resulting in fewer infected babies and orphans. In addition,
male and female condoms provide dual protection against unintended pregnancies
and against STIs including HIV. Also, it can prevent closely spaced and ill-timed
pregnancies and births, which contribute to some of the world’s highest infant
mortality rates. Infants of mothers who die as a result of giving birth also have a
greater risk of death and poor health. What I have mentioned are some of the good
effects if we are knowledgeable enough regarding family planning.
To sum it up, it is very important that family planning is widely available and
easily accessible through midwives and other trained health workers to anyone who
is sexually active, including adolescents. It is one of the fastest ways to spread its
importance to everyone. In connection, the World Health Organization is working to
promote family planning by producing evidence-based guidelines on safety and
service delivery of contraceptives methods and helping countries introduce, adapt
and implement these tools to meet their needs.
