1) Note
1. Heat output for fuels is based on the following values.
Fuel type Lower heating value Density
Kerosene 43.5MJ/kg 0.80g/cm3
Japanese A-type fuel oil 42.7MJ/kg 0.86g/cm3

2. (1) Boiler efficiency is based on the following.

Operating conditions: Operating pressure 0.49 MPa, feed water temperature 15ºC,
supply air temperature 35ºC
Land boilers - Heat balancing: JIS B 8222
(2) The error has the following tolerances.
Error for boiler efficiency ±1%, error for fuel consumption ±3.5%

3. Actual output evaporation is based on a feed water temperature 15ºC, and steam pressure 0.49
MPa.

4. If the feed water temperature is 85ºC or higher, the high temperature water specification must be
used.

5. The safety valve outlet shows the diameter of the elbow that connects to the outlet of the safety
valve.

6. Power supply wire diameter indicates the wire diameter of Crosslinked polyethylene insulated
PVC sheathed cable (CV).

7. The power circuit breaker must be an earth leakage circuit breaker (with overcurrent protection).

8. A copper joint 10 A and oil strainer 10 A are installed on the upstream side of the fuel inlet for
each model.

9. Install a pressure reducing valve or equivalent when the steam lower than the working pressure
range is required.

10. When using Japanese A-type fuel oil, JIS Class 1 No. 1 is recommended.
Sulfur contents in fuels and dew drops make the inside of the stack corrosive. In addition, when
corrosives scatter, it may cause corrosion and contamination of roofs and other areas.
Therefore, JIS Class 1 No. 1 such low-sulfur is recommended.

11. If the pressure exceeds the working pressure range, steam leak or blowout from the safety valve
may occur.
Contact your local Miura office when the steam pressure setting of the boiler exceeds the working
pressure range.

For the sake of safety, an earthquake detector should also be installed.

2. EXPLANATION OF FUNCTIONS
1. Sequence control / Combustion control
1) Purge
Prior to the start of ignition, the fan is turned on for a certain period of time to discharge residual
gas from inside the furnace. (This action is referred to as “pre-purge”.)
Similarly, after the end of combustion, the fan is turned on for a certain period of time to
discharge residual gas from the furnace. (This action is referred to as “post-purge”.)
2) Ignition and combustion
When pre-purge has been completed, an ignition spark is generated and the boiler starts low
fire combustion approximately 2 seconds later and shifts to high fire approximately 20 seconds
later. The ignition transformer simultaneously generates an ignition spark for approximately 3
seconds.

2. Feed water control

Using water level detection electrodes, the feed water pump is turned ON and OFF .

3. Pressure control
Low-fire combustion is performed after pre-purge for the required period of time, and following
this, the boiler is switched to high-fire combustion. Then, when the low-setting steam pressure
has been reached, the boiler is returned to low-fire combustion. If the steam pressure rises
during low-fire combustion and reaches the high-setting steam pressure, combustion is
stopped.
Similarly, if the steam pressure does not rise and the differential steam pressure at the low-
setting pressure switch drops during low-fire combustion, the boiler is returned to high-fire
combustion.

4. Safety functions
1) Low water level error
When the water level of the gauge becomes lower than the specified water level while the
“COMBUSTION” switch is ON, the combustion stops and an alarm occurs.
2) Flame failure error
When the flame fails during combustion, the safety switch performs and the combustion is
locked out and an alarm occurs. (Note 1)
3) Vessel temperature anomaly
The temperature of the pressure vessel is constantly monitored, and combustion is locked out
and an alarm occurs if this temperature reaches an unacceptable level.
4) Ignition error
When there is no ignition within the set time (approximately 3 seconds), the combustion stops
and an alarm occurs. (Note 1)
5) False flame error
When a false flame signal of the furnace is ON before and during pre-purge, the boiler shifts
to standby with the fan is ON. When the false flame signal is OFF the boiler checks pre-purge
timing and shifts to ignition.
6) Overcurrent error
When the overcurrent in any of the motors occurs during combustion, the combustion stops
and an alarm is issued.
7) Flue gas temperature anomaly (safety)
When the flue gas temperature monitoring switch (safety) operates, the combustion is locked
out and an alarm occurs.

Note 1: For the first time when the error (2) or (4) occurs, re-ignition starts after pre-purge. However,
for the second error, combustion stops and an alarm occurs.

5. Safety monitor
Whenever a low water level error, ignition error, or overcurrent error of motors occurs, the
corresponding lamp will turn on to provide notification of the boiler problem.
