Description:

This arwork is created by Marc SalamatSenior Graphic Artist, and Painter Velocity Made
Good (VMG) he live in Hagonoy, Bulacan, the name of the artwok is “AMEN” it is created in
2009 ,a child praying to the Lord. It is a painting made of oil on canvas, it is 12x12 inch, there is
no other object except to the bedsheet ,the major events that occurred at the same time this
artwork was created is on May 22 the 2009 flupandemic which was outbreak was entered in the
Philippines and on June 22 the first death caused by H1N1 confirmed in the Philippines and also
first death in Asia and also on December 10 18 hostages are released after atleast 65 people are
kidnapped by gunmen in Agusan del Sur,Mindanao and a massacre happened on November 23
in the Maguindanao on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines was held and killed at least 60
persons. The artist used warm colors for the bedsheet and the backround of the artwork even in
the subject of the artwork. He used diagonal and curved lines to indicate smooth movements like
in the forehead of the child. This is an implied texture because it is made on a canvas. This is a
daytime, there is light in the other side of the object and the action shows that the child want to
thank God for another day and to all the blessings that he received.

Analyze:

The artist used warm colors in his artwork by putting it on the subject and on the
background. He used organic shapes in his artwork, the lines that the artist used is diagonal and
curved lines to show action and indicate movement and it is the dominant part of the work, the
artist used implied texture it is made to look like a certain texture but in fact it is just a smooth
piece of paper. The artist used light to show whether it is daytime or night time.He emphasis the
child or being the center of attraction by using a different color on his lips. The overall visual
effect or mood of the artwork is peaceful and color is the one of the most effective ways to create
a mood in a work of art.

Interpretation:

The artist want to show that every person or human being must thank God at all times,
just kneel down and pray because prayer is the most powerful conversation of the day because
you are talking to your creator. It is a powerful weapon to a believer. My heart melt when I saw
this artwork because it is so amazing that at the young age he knows how to communicate to the
Lord. This artwork symbolizes faith, without faith it is impossible to please him. Only God can
move mountains,but faith and prayer can move God. What my point is that all things are possible
through prayer, and the artist want to teach your kids to pray because teaching the children to
pray will truly prepare them for life.

Judgement:

This artwork convey an important social message, be a prayer warrior and pray at all
times because God is everywhere so pray anywhere and just keep calm and pray all the time
.This artwork affects the way that I see the world because I’m so glad that even the world is full
of evil there is hope and there are many things to be thankful like being alive everyday,having
strength, and a healthy body. This artwork reaffirms a religious belief because the artwork
shows a child praying in the morning. This work help other to realize how powerful a prayer is.
This artwork strengthens focus and increases attention, develops hand-eye coordination, requires
practice and strategic thinking, and involves interacting with the material world through different
tools and art mediums.This work of  art reaches across racial stereotypes, religious barriers, and
socio-economical levels and prejudices. Seeing other culture’s creative expression allows
everyone to be more connected and less isolated , see how we are all related.This art creates a
sense of belonging. This art support the bigger picture view of life: beauty, symbols, spirituality,
storytelling, it also helps us step out of time allowing one to be present in the moment. Art keeps
the magic alive.
