SURFACE APPEARANCE AND FINISH
4.1
Appearance and finish
For definition of appearance MB and MA with associated finish RL, RM, RR see Std. 50209. FE 390 F,
FE 490 F e FE 590 F steel semifinished products are usually supplied with appearance MA and finish
RL.
4.2
Visual inspection
Rolled product shall be free from defects which adversely affect normal service. Surfaces shall be clean,
free from rust and foreign matter.
Defects which may cause failure during service, damage to equipment, welding or brazing problems
or paint or protective coating adhesion difficulties are not allowed. Folds, loose or extractable metal parts
are not allowed. Slight surface defects are allowed provided that they are not more that 30 mm from
edges.
Coils with a slightly colored band are not cause for rejection.
