Job Interview Lesson #2

Subject/Course/Grade: Job Interviews, SC11, GC11, PA21, CC21, IF2A, DÑ2A, upper level courses

Lesson Topic: Sorry I’m late video and interview practice

School: IES Islas Filipinas Duration: 55 min

Lesson Objective:

Students will be able to: practice with job interview conversations

Rationale:

This lesson plan is the second lesson in the job interview unit. The students will watch
another video of a job interview, but this time it is a bad job interview. The man in the video
does everything wrong. This will give the students an idea of what not to do during a job
interview. It will also give them practice hearing job interview questions again because their
oral exam is a job interview. After watching the video, the students will work on a job
interview worksheet that will also help prepare them for the oral exam.
Agenda:

Review last week’s activity – job interview and dos and don’ts
Watch video – Sorry I’m late
Worksheet 6 and 7
Summary of Tasks/Actions:

We will start off by reviewing the activities from last week. We will go over some of the key
dos and don’ts. We will then watch a video of a bad job interview. This will give the students
more practice with what they should and should not do during a job interview. When the
video is done, we will make a list as a class of all the things that the man did in the video that
was bad. After that, the students will begin the worksheet activity. This will take the rest of
the class time.

Wrap up activity and say goodbye 

If there is time left at the end of class give the students time to work on preparing and
practicing for their oral exams. They need to make up a conversation with their partner.
They cannot copy the worksheet, but they can use the worksheet to help them plan and
prepare for the oral exam. They should prepare to interview for a job that they hope to
interview for after graduation. One student is the interviewer and the other student is the
interviewee.

Assessment/Evaluation:

Class participation is an informal assessment of how much they learned the preview week.
The worksheet is another informal assessment of their English and knowledge of the topic.

Closure:

Are there any last questions about the activity?

Goodbye!
Critical Questions:

Will the students remember details from the previous class? How can I accommodate for different
levels of English during the activity?
