Name: Column Writing

As I wake up from my deep and restful sleep, eyes lock on to the windows as I see a flurry of
snow outside the cold glass. I get up with a grin on my face, running to see if my expectations
have been met. I run back to my closet, looking for the nearest pair of pants and a jacket. I slip
them right on and ran outside so fast I thought I was “The Flash.”
The first thing I feel is the cool cold air brush my face as I jump right into the fresh snow. As I run
back inside and brush the flaky white snow off, I wake up my parents. As I wait for them to get
ready, I think about all the times in the future I'll have to enjoy snow days.
I run into my front yard with the intent to get the most out of this special day. I quickly run to my
friend's house across the street to get him up, as well as hit him with the greatest snowball ever.
As he walks out the door into the cold snow, my fingers get numb and I release the snowball
from my hands. He runs back into his house to prepare for the greatest snowball fight I’ve ever
had.
As my friend runs out of his house, I barrage him with tons of snowballs flying toward his face.
As he gets up with fresh snow scattered across his face, he retaliates with a furious smile as he
pitches a snowball into my face.
We continuously throw more and more snowballs until our fingers turn purple and we’re forced
to go back inside. As soon as we get inside, I ask my mom for some fresh hot cocoa to warm
me and my friend up. As we waited for the hot cocoa, we played a game of hide and seek
enjoying the time we had left of this short day. That day was one of the last times I ever enjoyed
a snow day with my friends. Not many times have they had snow days in Texas.
