UNICEF
3 United Nations Plaza,
New York, NY 10017

Dear UNICEF,

I am a recent graduate from the University of Washington with a degree in Political

Science. My academic goal is to obtain a Masters in Legal Studies and my career goal is to work
as a member of the United Nations. I have an energetic desire to learn about international
policies, human rights, and relations. I have a tremendous professional work ethic, a
sophisticated demeanor, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. I have strong
analytical and research skills alongside effective communication skills. My current academic and
work experience have prepared me to fulfill all the duties and expectations of an UNICEF intern.
I’ve had several experiences that have equipped me to properly fulfill this internship
position. During my time at Highline College, I was fortunate to be a Project Specialist for the
TRiO program. This position required me to answer emails, telephone calls, and handle student
records and documents. In addition, being a Project Specialist also gave me exposure to mass
media production because I was responsible for creating newsletters for the organization.
At the University of Washington learning how to research policies and writing policy
memos. As an intern for a bankruptcy law firm, I researched and organized legal documents
daily before they were sent to the King County Court. Serving as an intern for a public defense
attorney and interacting with his clients and observing the King County Court system was also a
wonderful experience. Learning about international affairs and world poverty from the Borgen
Project. Also having experience interning for ICERM which gave me the opportunity to learn
about the UN and attending conferences.
My interest in this internship will be of great value because I am motivated to work in a
professional and international government environment. I am eager to learn much more about the
UNICEF and its policies. This internship will help align me with my academic and career goals.
Serving as an intern will provide me with strong application of the things, I love learning about,
and I could not be more excited for this opportunity. Not only will this experience help me with
my academic path, but this will help me to concentrate on some of my broad government
interests. This internship will also help me decide what exactly I want to do for the United
Nations, if I want to be an ambassador, political affairs officer, security officer etc. All in all, this
internship will help me prepare for my political future, while challenging me to be a person who
can handle difficult and stressful situations.
I am enthusiastic about this opportunity. I would like to have an interview so we can
discuss my skills and interests even more. You can contact me by email at
jonesjourdan0725@gmail.com or call me at 206.819.8559.

Sincerely,
Jourdan Jones
