Organizations that have a strong sense of purpose tend to thrive, organizations without a clear

sense of purpose struggle. The purpose of choosing a specific organizational structure is to


clarify relationships, lines of authority and ways of communicating in a way that best suits the
particular organization or enterprise. It helps to coordinate activities of the component parts in
order to facilitate the realisation of the goals of the organisation. It helps in growth and
diversification of the activities of an organisation.

Organizations adopt innovations to introduce changes in their outcomes, structures, and


processes in order to maintain or improve their level of performance or effectiveness. These
changes can be the direct result of managerial choice or can be imposed by external conditions.
Environmental change or uncertainty creates a need for change in the strategy and/or structure
of an organization. This, in turn, provides the impetus for the introduction of innovations.
Regardless of the origin of organizational change (internal or external), innovation is a means of
creating change to ensure adaptive behavior.

Consider what customers will be asking and prepare responses in advance. Delays are
inevitable right now, and perhaps even expected, but it’s still important to communicate this to
your customers. Manage customer expectations during this time and confirm that they’re fine
with the increased delivery time. As governments make significant interventions in response to
the coronavirus, businesses are rapidly adjusting to the changing needs of their people, their
customers and suppliers, while navigating the financial and operational challenges.
