Communications Manager - Job Description

1.0 FTE; Monday to Friday


Reports To: HTAi Executive Director

HTAi is a growing international community for professionals who produce or use Health
Technology Assessments for Policy Decision Makers. To support the Society’s membership,
increasing dissemination of member activities and initiatives to improve collaboration is a priority
for the Society. HTAi is looking for someone with experience in the development and delivery of
communications strategies for a global audience, including print, web, and social media mediums.
The incumbent will work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to
continuously promote the work of the HTAi community and to encourage meaningful engagement
of the Society’s membership.

The Communications Manager is responsible for completing various internal and external
communications related to activities across the Society, for example HTAi’s involvement in
partnership meetings, capacity building activities, Interest Groups and corporate sponsorships.
They are responsible for providing guidance to the Executive Director on various engagement,
outreach and communications opportunities. This individual must be aware of current leadership
trends and react quickly to changes within the relevant landscape. There will be frequent
interactions with the society’s membership community, executive team, vendors, and other
stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities:


• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy
• Build engagement and management process templates
• Work with designers, writers, editors and other creative staff to produce activities and tools
to support HTAi members and services
• Support and develop the communications strategies for HTAi Interest Groups
• Work with the Secretariat and related Committees to research, develop and implement new
web-based activities to enhance the membership experience such as social media,
workshops, advertisements, webinars, knowledge mobilization platforms and other
initiatives
• Develop brand awareness consistent with corporate business goals and objectives
• Coordinate engagement, outreach and communications to HTAi members to ensure
consistent messaging
• Continuously identify significant trends in the HTA Community (through the monitoring of
various social media sites and online publications, etc.)
• Coordinate market research activities to support engagement and communications
• Determine target markets and their various characteristics, aiming to broaden the appeal of
HTAi’s brand to increase membership
• Ensure products, services, and other offerings conform to brand identity
• Ensure materials are developed and distributed according to agreed timelines
• Contribute to the development of HTAi’s international meeting activities
• Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:
• University degree in Communications or equivalent
• 4-6 years of work experience in the public or private sector, including the handling of
corporate communications, original writing and editing and some public relations,
engagement of members
• Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly and to ensure they are clearly
communicated to HTAi stakeholders
• A well-defined sense of diplomacy and people management skills
• Politically and culturally sensitive is a key requirement
• Strong portfolio of writing samples required
• Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation and spelling
• Strong understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management
• Experience in executing successful social media strategies
• Direct experience with graphic design, websites, webinars and social media and other -
related software tools
• Highly effective prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills
• Excellent computer and software skills
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally when required
• Work well in both team and independent settings
• Embraces direction and criticism in a positive manner
