QUESTION 1

Pin A is welded to the disk and freely slides within the slotted bent arm DBE as shown in Figure Q1. The
disk rotates about a fixed axis through point O at an angular velocity of ω = 15 rad/s in counterclockwise
direction causing the collar C to move in the vertical shaft. Given that the lengths of AB and BC are 30
cm, respectively and radius r = 15 cm. Determine at the instant when θ = 45°:

(i) the angular velocity of slotted bent arm DBE,


(ii) the velocity of collar C,

The rectangular plate, with a mass of 8 kg and a uniform small thickness, is welded at the 45 o angle to
the vertical shaft, which rotates with constant angular velocity of 60 rev/min as shown in Figure Q2.
Determine the angular momentum of the plate about O, HO, effective moment about O, MO and the kinetic
energy of the plate.
