During the second comparison picture in the first phase of this experiment (#1, Answer:
"Right"), I was aware that the face I chose was not present in the original lineup of faces. I did
not recognize either of the faces, but rather than guessing if the left picture was a different
angle of a man I had seen, I settled for the picture on the right because the nature of the photo
was more similar to those that I had seen previously. He was wearing similar clothing, the
photo was taken at the same angle and had a similar colour tone, so I figured maybe I had
misremembered. Bartlett's explanation of memory reconstruction being distorted to fit
information already stored describes this situation quite well, in my opinion.
