Experiment No.1:

Prisms of Light
Materials:

 microscope slides (3)

 Transparent tape
 Clay
 Flashlight
 Water
 *prism
 *alternate materials
Conclude and Apply:

1. List the order of the colors you saw on the wall.

2. Describe how the position of the colors on the wall changes as you change the direction
of the flashlight beam.
3. Describe how the order of colors on the wall changes as you change the direction of the
flashlight beam
4. Infer which color light waves have change direction, or have bent, the most after passing
through the prism. Which color has been bent the least?
5. Infer how the bending of a light wave depends in its wavelength.

Answer:

1. These seven colors are always in the same order. The colors of the spectrum are red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Commonly known as “rainbow’.’
2. When light passes through a prism the light bends. As a result, the different colors that
make up white light become separated. And moves the color as you change, often
expressed in terms of the angle of deviation.
3. The colors of the beam do not change.
4. Red light is bent the least and violet light bent the most.
5. Since violet light has a shorter wavelength, it is slowed than the longer wavelengths of
red light.
