Narrative:
Making sure that each student has
an equal and equitable opportunity to
educational technology is critical.
Students should always have an
equal opportunity to an education but
the technology aspect can be
difficult. Especially with technology,
some students may not always have
the same technology available to
them like others may. Providing
students with school technology or
modifying their assignments are
things an educator must do to ensure
an equal learning experience for
certain students.
Reflection:
In my student teaching, there were
some main pieces of technology that
the students needed to have
because of the virtual learning. One
was some form of computer or laptop
so the students could attend class
through Zoom. This computer had to
have some form of webcam and a
microphone so I could interact with
the students and they could interact
with each other. The school was able
to provide every student with a
Chromebook that had a working
camera and microphone. Also, the
students were able to work on all
their assignments online through
Google Classroom. If they wanted to
print out their assignments and work
on them by hand, they could submit
a picture of their work. I was very
understanding and would accept
basically any way the student would
have liked to submit their work. In a
few cases, I mailed some materials
home to the students who did not
have a printer so they could
reference the materials while they
worked on assignments.
