1 Installation and First Putting into Operation

Caution!
Installation and first putting into operation must be perfor-
med by trained and qualified personnel!

1.1 Installation
For installation of the signal unit NAUTOALARM see the cable and connection diagram at-
tached.

1.1.1 Individual Device

Fig. 1–1 and Fig. 1–2 show the connection possibilities for the NAUTOALARM signal unit.
The connections (plug or terminal) are shown for the individual status messages with cor-
responding display panels and for the power supply. Additionally, the connections for the
external dimmer and the external reset can also be identified. The relay PCB and its con-
nections for external status messages via a transfer module and the serial output (Fig. 1–2)
is only delivered on the customer’s request.
There are jumper panels on the base PCB in the NAUTOALARM signal unit. The jumpers
on these panels determine how the status messages are to be triggered:
– voltage level or
– floating contakt.
(refer also to the ’Technical Data’, Section 3).
When replacing signal units, these jumpers must be checked in acc. with drawings
135 D 097.HP100, Bl. 2 + 3 and corrected when necessary.

1.1.2 Connection of Two Units

When using two spatially separated signal units NAUTOALARM (e.g. bridge and steering
gear room), these can be connected together as master/master or as master/slave ver-
sions. The relay PCB in every unit is required for this.

Version SA001:
Activation of an active alarm via the external reset key requires wiring
of the external reset key on both units. The external reset key there-
fore has two separate contacts. A corresponding telegram is not sent.

The following three variations are possible:

1. The signal input is switched on both units, but with separated signal contacts:
Advantage: if one unit fails, the other unit remains ready for operation.

Precondition:
Both units must be identically configured; this applies espe-
cially to the signal inputs, the type of inputs and the re-
sponse delay times.

2. The signal input is switched on both units, but by an external signal voltage
Advantage: if one unit fails, the other unit remains ready for operation.

Precondition:
Both units must be identically configured; this applies espe-
cially to the signal inputs, the type of inputs and the re-
sponse delay times.

The supply voltage for the signal unit can be used as external voltage.

Service Manual

3. The signal input is switched on one unit and the second unit is connected by a serial con-
nection to the first.
The second unit (slave) only receives its information via the serial interface; the signal in-
puts are not switched.
Advantage: low wiring requirement
Disadvantage: if the master unit fails, the slave unit is no longer ready for operation!

Precondition for this model:

Both units must be identically configured; this applies espe-
cially to the signal inputs and the type of inputs; the re-
sponse delay times are already taken into account in the
master unit.

Alarm acknowledgement at one unit is effective at both units; if the alarm at the master unit
is acknowledged, then the alarm at the slave unit is also acknowledged and vice–versa.
If, however, the acknowledgement is only meant for the unit
at which the alarm is acknowledged, then contacts 2 and 6 9 RXD+

2 Care, Maintenance and Shipboard Repair

2.1 Care and Maintenance

The signal unit requires no care and no maintenance.

2.2 Shipboard Repair

If the signal unit is defective, exchange the whole operator unit. The only replaceable part
of the unit is a defective bulb.

Replacing defective bulbs

– Pull the signal unit out of the console (4 x M4 nuts).
– remove power plug B3.
– if a relay PCB is connected, remove the plug from it.
– remove screws (➊ and ➋) next to the electrical connections.

➊ ➋

⇑ ⇑

– push the cover lid back a little (⇑) (when necessary, use a screw driver) and then lift it
up.
– unscrew the hex bolts ➌ (with slots for an M3–size screw driver) with a long screw driver
and remove them.

– loosen hex bolts ➍ and ➎ (with slots for an M3–size screw driver) with a long screw dri–
ver (they can not be totally removed) until the front panel can be pulled forwards and
pushed slightly to the side.
– replace the defective bulb.
