Data Binning Modes
 You need to select required data processing methods based on
different scenarios.
Data Binning can effectively reduce the impact of fast fading.
Currently, four Binning modes are supported, including no Binning,
time Binning, geographic Binning, and grid Binning.
 No Binning
 It is used for analysis based on original test data. In most cases,
it applies to event and signaling synchronous analysis.
 Advantage: Information about each event and IE can be
accurately positioned and problems can be resolved.
 Disadvantage: The data volume is large and import performance
is low.

No Binning

Time Binning
 Time Binning
 It is used for keeping test vehicles stable and fixed point tests
without GPS.
 Advantages:
 Analyze data of a test at a stable speed.
 Sample maximum and minimum IE values in consecutive
periods with a fixed interval and analyzing special KPIs.

1s interval
 3. Improve efficiency.
 Disadvantage:
 If the speed of a test vehicle is unstable, the test data interval
is not even. High speed
 Example:
 Comparison of displayed data before and after time Binning
when the interval is 1s
Low speed

Copyright © 2016 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page 15
Distance Binning
 Distance Binning
 It is used for DT data analysis and coverage problem analysis.
 Advantages:
 Avoid the scenario where sampling points are centrally distributed
due to a long stay, such as red light intervals.
 Improve efficiency.

5 m interval
 Disadvantage:
 It is not applicable to indoor and fixed point tests.
 Example:
 Comparison of displayed data before and after distance Binning
when the interval is 5 m:
(The restriction is that the vehicle speed cannot be too high.)

Grid Binning
 Advantages:
 Avoid the scenario where sampling points are centrally
distributed due to a long stay, such as red light intervals.
 Improve efficiency.

5 m x 5 m grid interval
 Allow certain GPS drift errors.
 Disadvantages:
 It is not applicable to indoor and fixed point tests.
 The grid size cannot be too large.
 Example:
 Comparison of displayed data before and after grid
Binning when the grid interval is 5 m x 5 m

Indoor and Outdoor Map Import

 Outdoor maps support import of electronic maps in MapInfo, BMP, JPG, and GIF formats.
 Outdoor maps support Google Earth.
 Outdoor maps support Google Map.
 Indoor maps support BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, and TIF formats.

Engineering Parameter Import

 Procedure for importing engineering parameters:

 Choose Site > WCDMA (or GSM/LTE) in the project tree.
 Choose View Engineering Parameter and click the import icon in the WCDMA Engineering Parameter window to import engineering
parameters.
 For the corresponding engineering parameter template, see the \Assistant V300R017\SystemConfig directory. You can also import the
engineering parameter template through the Export Template icon. For details about optional and mandatory fields, see the notes page.

Cell Radius Calculation

 Procedure:
 Import engineering parameters.
 Calculate the cell radius by clicking Calculate Cell Radius in the first figure.
 Add cell radius map layers and view the radius of each cell on a map.
 Principle: The Assistant calculates the distance between a cell of each coverage
direction and all other base stations based on the azimuth and lobe angle.
Select a weight vector to obtain the cell radius that serves as the overshoot
coverage determination basis. Indoor cells do not need to be involved in the
calculation, which is marked by the CellType field in engineering parameters. If
a cell is not marked, it is considered as a macro cell by default. The upper-left
figure shows the cell radius. You can determine whether to display the cell
radius through map layers. The length indicates the cell radius. Double-click the
cell radius to change the radius of a cell.

Data Import

Automatically combine the data that

is automatically segmented by the
Probe.

 Import and analysis procedure:

 Step 1: Select data in the Logfile Manager.
 Step 2: Create an analysis group. For details about how to create an analysis group, see the next page.
 Step 3: Right-click Analysis Group and choose Run Analysis from the shortcut menu. Complete data parsing at a time, which takes
a long time. The system quickly generates desired results based on the created analysis group (quick secondary calculation).

group based on the UE ID. analysis group.

 An analysis group is a group of data. You can place different terminal data in analysis groups based on service requirements. You can
create analysis groups based on the MS ID, device type, IMEI, and IMSI.
 Automatic creation of an analysis group: A UE ID corresponds to a terminal ID during a Probe test. If a test plan remains unchanged, the
UE ID remains unchanged. If an analysis group is automatically created when the test plan is not changed, automatic combination is
implemented based on the test plan to create the analysis group.
 Procedure: Right-click Analysis Group in the project tree and choose Analysis Group Manager from the shortcut menu. Create an
analysis group in the displayed analysis group management window.

Analysis Group Creation

Enter the search criteria.

 You can create analysis groups based on different service scenarios and based on the MS ID, device type, IMSI, and
IMEI. Example: 1. Collect statistics on KPIs for different services. Place data of terminals for the same service type in the
same analysis group. 2. Alternatively, create analysis groups based on terminals. For example, create an analysis group
for HTC One terminals and create another for the Scanner.

Intelligent Analysis on UL Network Problems

 Portal setting: Set intelligent analysis conditions on the Theme tab page in the System Setting dialog box, as shown in the right figure.
 Algorithm logic: In the preceding figures, the meaning of Poor Coverage setting is as follows: Calculate the number of sampling points reported by
a mobile phone used for a DT. If the RSRP of the serving cell of a point is less than –100 dBm and the RSRP of its neighboring cell is less than –110
dBm, this point meets the condition. Statistics are collected for every ten points. If seven points of them meet the condition, one poor coverage
record is generated.
 Abnormal scenario: If there are no seven points meeting the condition among the ten points, the calculation starts from the second point in the ten-
point sliding window next time. If seven points meet the condition among the ten points, the calculation starts from the eleventh point in the ten-point
sliding window next time.
