TEST REPORT, Substrate: STARKEN AAC Block
1. TEST PARAMETERS
Fischer Fixings have been working alongside with STARKEN to discover what type of fixing and
what kind of load would be suitable for STARKEN AAC Blocks. The units are manufactured in a
variety of sizes, but always with the minimum compressive strength classification of either S3
(compressive strength of 3 MPa) or S5 (compressive strength of 5 MPa). For the purpose of this
testing, test block of size 600x200x100mm and 600x200x150mm were selected as base material.
All the fixings were tested in the centre of the STARKEN AAC block, each fixing is installed at
equal spacing.
The test results for all the fixings tested show a good variation in ultimate loads. This allows the
engineer/architect/end user to have a broad range of anchor to choose from depending on both
function and load performance.
The test were carried out on 27 February 2014 at: Starken AAC Sdn Bhd (Factory)
Plot 6, Jalan Bunga Azalea ½,
Kawasan Industri Jalan Bunga Azalea,
48200, Serendah, Selangor Darul Ehsan,
Malaysia.
All tests were carried out using a Hydrajaws calibrated tensile tester with 0-25kN digital gauge, in
conjunction with aluminium 150mm load spreading bridge and M8 and M10 open ended test
adapters.

SX – Fischer plug
Description
The Fischer SX plug has four fold nylon plug expansion which form locks with the substrate.
This action guarantees maximum load bearing characteristics. The area of application ranges
from solid materials through to hollow perforated materials.

Description
The Fischer UX plug has a unique features on its universal application. It expands in
solid materials, such as concrete and lightweight block, reliable knot formation in all cavities.
Its side saw-tooth prevents the plug from spinning inside the hole and the collar prevents it
from slipping into the drill hole.

Description
The Fischer FIS VT injection anchor contains a styrene-free, quick setting, high quality
Vinylester injection mortar, which is characterised by its universal suitability for
many applications. In AAC block, a bespoke drill bit is used to create a conical
hole. A centering sleeve is then used to ensure that all 3 thread sizes remain in the
middle of the hole. When fully cured this resin produces a form type locking allowing
maximum load bearing capacity while keeping the fixings stress free so no damage
is done to the block during installation.

The table below shows the safe working loads of all anchor tested into STARKEN AAC
Blocks. The blocks used for testing were 600x200x100mm and 600x200x150mm with
compressive strength of 3MPa and 5MPa respectively.
4. CONCLUSION
Fischer has a wide range of specialist fixing solutions for STARKEN AAC G5 block,
covering safe working loads from as little as 29.7kg to as much as 181kg,
depended on types of Fischer fixing system.
As the testing was carried out in the S3 and S5 unit produced by STARKEN AAC
Sdn Bhd, all of the loads contained within this report is valid only for this said
material and dimension as stated.
