Motivation
Please describe why you are applying for this workshop and what you hope to learn from it
(100-200 words) *

I have always had a deep fascination for stone masonry works and a deep respect for the masters' hands behind them.
The practical work and lectures I believe will add layers and connections to my modest knowledge and experience on
the matter. There is a lot to learn from master masons by just working next to them; also reading the lecture
descriptions already makes my attention stretch into poses.
Ideally, by the end of the workshop I want to be able to repeat the same work or at least part of it on my own, which is
what I plan to do in the near future in my village.
Ultimately, hearing from my friends taking part in former events, I would love to breathe the air of synergy and the
chemistry that forms in the camp.

During various experiences such as university, work, workshops, restoration camps, I have worked to attain:
basic set of surveying skills
basic knowledge of documentation procedures
basic expertise in mortars and their recipes
basic command of masonry tools
basic experience in stone shaping techniques
basic expertise in masonry walls and construction damage evaluation
I have previously been a participant in the 2017 CHwB Restoration Camp in Gjirokastër Albania, engaging on the re-
erection of a stone masonry wall and gate arch. I plan to go back this year too as a volunteer, hopefully working behind
the same masters that previously led us.

Personal and travel expenses are not covered by the participation fee.

For participants from Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina, there
will be nine scholarship to cover the costs of the workshop. The scholarships will pay the full 500 euro fee, including: tuition, on-site accommodation
with breakfast and a snack, workshop materials and tools, emergency health insurance and planned excursions. Participants will still be responsible
for covering their own meal costs, as well as travel to the location of the workshop.
