History of the provision of Monetary Compensation under NCWA in Coal India Limited
The provision of the benefit of monetary compensation in lieu of employment to the female dependent of
deceased employee was came into existence for the first time in NCWA-V (01-07-1991 to 30-06-1996) and
the same was implemented with effect from 01-07-1995 vide Implementation Instruction No-8 of (NCWA-V)
dated: 22-02-1996. Some of the key provisions of the scheme are tabulated below:
• An amount of Rs.2,000/- in case of death in harness and Rs.3,000/- in case of fatal mine accident to be
given to the female dependent of the deceased employee till she attains the age of 60 years, was
introduced. It was agreed to disburse the payment of monthly monetary compensation to the female
dependent of deceased employee from the first day of the following month from the date on which
application/option/claim for the same is submitted by the concerned dependent.
