1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Challenges of Coronavirus (Covid-19)
In my perspectives, due to pandemic situation, the challenges is one world
have to get used with new norms where everyone cannot walk as usual in a
crowded place, always wear a mask when going out and always follow
standard operating procedure (SOP) instructions. Human life became restricted,
there is no freedom to go out and do various activities, such as sports and
leisure activities. The biggest challenges is the economy rate getting decreased,
many large and small firms being affected. People are also laid off because the
company can no longer afford to pay employees and many graduates who are
unemployed and have to start their own business just to survive themselves.
Other than that, when the economy rates decreased, crime rates getting higher
because there are a lot of individual who are desperate need money for living.

1.2 Challenges to Human Resource Management (HRM)


According to [ CITATION Pro20 \l 1086 ] there are three main of challenges to
HRM which is communication, trust, and rapid policy changes. With
information from governments, health authorities and labor organizations
continually change, companies need to be quick in communicating with, so that
employees can respond quickly towards change. When it comes to trust, where
possible, many companies have moved to working from home and
unfortunately this was not by choice. In rapid policy changes, almost every
company policy has been affected by covid-19 and needs to be constantly
updated for the Covid-19 clause.

2.0 INTRODUCTION TO ONLINE LEARNING


2.1 Benefits using Online Distance Learning (ODL)
Based on my personal experience, the benefits of ODL it is low learning
costs. The explanation is that ODL make it possible for students and live with
their parents. Assorted to transportation-related costs such as public transport,
it does not impact online students. Other than that, ODL benefits on student
also it is flexible time. ODL open opportunity for students to have more

freedom of learning because of the mobility gadgets in the way of learning in
anywhere they were.

2.2 Challenges facing the ODL methods


Even though ODL is flexible and freedom because of mobility gadgets can
use in anywhere for students, on another basis, ODL might lead to emotional
instability faced by the students as they are in a rush to finish up their
assignments at very close submission date since assignment are piling up and
datelines are closing in making students more stress. Besides, brain getting
more drain as there are too much distraction at home making students not
focused with the class. Home is comfortable but it is not a conductive
environment for students to learn. This also bring to fact that without access to
the internet, it would be pointless for ODL to function.

3.0 ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT ON FUNCTION OF HRM


A) Recruitment
According to [CITATION SHR20 \l 1086 ], as the impact of the Covid-19
pandemic, all Human Resource (HR) are facing pressure to cut costs. In this
situation most of companies all over the world are triggered by the crisis of
money which is companies didn't have enough money to pay the employees
such as they had to laid off some employees and companies didn’t have money
to hire new employees.

B) Training Administration
According to[CITATION Mar19 \l 1086 ], the impact on organization of HR
which is how the companies organization will train workers during online. This
has impact HR from the effectiveness of workers during online, he also stated
that the companies could not change anything in their HRM approaches
formally because the crisis of Covid-19 has occurred for suddenly, however,
the strategy can be seen again in relating to the crisis of management, business
continuity, and HRM processes. Based on my understanding this has impact
for HR to train workers as the activity or event are limitation for organization
to conduct a training in face to face. For example, Pensonic factory companies

are facing a hard time to train new internship as everyone are working from
home.
3.1 Pros and Cons of using ODL in organization
A) Pros (advantages)
The pros of using ODL in organization is reduced cost, that was
according to [ CITATION Ste18 \l 1086 ]. He stated that, online learning
provides cost-effective as the work hours have been reduced. Moreover,
employees can get personal preference as [ CITATION Owe20 \l 1086 ] stated
that everyone know the types of person we are whether an introverts or
extroverts, same goes to employees who are enjoyed on physically working
closely with others. But at the same time, there are certain who do not feel
comfortable to work in a large crowds of strangers, so it is advantage for
introvert’s people to enjoy their own personal preference as they enjoy with
the ODL method. Another pros is distance learning can be fitted around
existing responsibilities, since people are working from home, it is allowing
them to choose their hours and maintain a healthy work life balance as they
can focused to family as well and get social life, which is a strong selling
point for many employees, said [ CITATION Ark14 \l 1086 ].

B) Cons (disadvantages)
Even ODL has many benefits to organization, however it will always
occurred an effect during this pandemic, and one of it is adverse effects
where, when other employees want to follow the ODL methods and create
situation that are not desired by the organization. For example, a company
is quite difficult to track down employees by knowing whether its
employees are productive or effective in terms of doing work from home
that were explained by [ CITATION Sin17 \l 1086 ]. Furthermore, based on
survey journal [ CITATION Ips20 \l 1086 ], it has been proven that working
from home make the organization in difficulties which they loss of
important work tools such as they need physical equipment, they need data
and documents, and concerned certain work tasks that they cannot do from
home.

3.2 Challenges to employees in manage work from home (WFH) – Task quality

Based on [CITATION The20 \l 1086 ], it found that WFH is a distraction
which is employees are battling with a new set of environment at home. For
example, those who have a kids they were distracted by the child that want an
attention from the parents, and they even have to cooks for the family and it
makes the employees in a hard time to complete the tasks. Thus, the
challenges for employees are the internet access. It was explained by the
[ CITATION Str20 \l 1086 ] that not all the workers residential areas have smooth
internet access, however some of them live in areas poor internet access and
they had to hold during their online meeting.

4.0 RECOMMENDATION
Based on my opinion, because of ODL can causes negative impact in terms of
emotions, I recommend that the organization or the university should provide
emotional support to employees and students. For example, organizations create an
event talk that using the Google Meet or Facebook live as platform by inviting
psychologists for some talk or concern on how to deal with emotions working from
home or online distance learning and how to detect early signs of depression. This is
because, when ODL, it will have so much distraction from home especially when there
are a family members who cannot be an understanding. To get a good results of work,
it is important for the organization to ensure that employees or students are in a good
health.

5.0 CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I believe that learning always depends on the interest of students to
learn, as well as on the organization that wants the best work for the company. With
the current pandemic situation of Covid-19, everyone has no choice, so students and
the whole organization must adapt to the current situation in order to survive in a time
full of challenges and obstacles.
