ABSTRACT

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of street vendors in the area of Malioboro,
Yogyakarta, of their decision so that they do not use the financing services in Sharia financial
institutions. The approach of this research is descriptive qualitative method. The database
used was primary data, and secondary data were obtained through observation and
interviews. Respondents in this study were 11 people taken using a purposive sampling
technique.
The results show that the perception of street vendors towards sharia financial
institutions was due to lack of socialization, information, and education from related parties
(in this case, OJK and Sharia financial institutions) especially related to financing, causing a
lack of literacy about existing products in Sharia financial institutions. In addition, there are
other competing factors, and external factors that result in the low interest of street vendors in
conducting financial transactions in Islamic financial institutions.
