QUESTIONS
1.Explain the term MUHTADAR.
A person on whom the signs of death are clearly seen is called a Muhtadar
2.How should a Muhtadar be made to lie (the Sunnat method)?
It is Sunnat to let him lie on his right side facing towards the Qibla. It is allowed that he be
situated to lie on his back with his feet towards the Qibla, and the head somewhat raised
with a soft pad so it faces the Qibla, all the bed materials must be Paak.
3.If possible, which Surahs should be recited in the presence of the Muhtadar?
Surah Yaseen (starting at the 17th Ruku of the 22nd Para) and Surah Ra’d (beginning at the
6th Ruku of the 13th Para)
4.What is Talqeen?
Talqeen is to remind the dying person of the two Shahadats.
5.What are the signs of a person nearing his end?
These are the signs of a dying person: when the end nears the dying person's breath
quickens, the knees becomes so weak that they cannot move, the nose becomes bent and
the temples subside.
6.Mention the ten important things to be carried out after a person has passed away.
A) Get a doctor's certificate.
B) Get a burial order.
C) Get a death certificate.
D) If the body is to be removed from one region to another (e.g. from Mostar to Sarajevo)
then it is important to acquire a removal order from the police of
the town (Mostar) in which the death took place.
E) If the death is due to unnatural causes (e.g. drowning or a motor accident, etc.)
then one must consent with the legal requirements.
F) Inform relatives and friends of the death and time of Janazah.
G) Prepare the Qabr.
H) Perform ghusl.
I) Put on the kafn.
J) Arrange transport if the Qabrastaan (cemetery) is at a distance.
7.What are the requirements for a male and female Kafn.
