TPY RTY AND NORMY TEMPLATE TO CALCULATE THE BASE LINE PERFORMANCE.

1.TPY or "Throughput Yield " is defined as the probability, that a product is free of defects with respect to all the oppo
(CTQ's - Critical To Quality Charcteristics). The throughput is calculated for each process step. The TPY Represents Firs
Quality at That Step Only.
2. RTY or "Rolled Throughput Yield" is Applied to the Entire Process. Rolled Throughput Yield Represents, the First Tim
Quality for the Entire Process. Rolled Throughput Yield is Computed by Multiplying the Throughput Yield for Each Pro
Mathematically Rolled Throughput Yield for a "m" Stage Process is Computed as Follows: Yrt =  Ytpi Whereas Ytpi is
Throughput Yield of the ith Process Step. Unlike Traditional Yield, Rolled Throughput Yield has Statistically Significant
To Quality, Cycle Time and Cost.
RTY = Exponential(-DPU) Where DPU = Defects Per Unit
3. NORMY or "Normalized Yield" - Normalized Yield is a Representative Yield for the Entire Process.
Normalized Yield = YNorm =m Yrt = mth Root of Rolled Throughput Yield For a m Stage Process
Where Yrt = Exponential (-DPU) Or DPU = - Loge(Yrt).
4. The Template Here is Designed for a 15 Step or 15 Stage Process.
5. The Template is Designed to Calculate the Base Line Performance i.e. The DPMO's and Process Sigma of the 15 Stag
Mandatorily During the Measure Stage of the DMAIC Roadmap.
6. In the Template the Input Value is Entered Below the Cell Marked "INPUT".
7. The Reject Rate or Scrap % or The Process CTP value is Entered for Each of the Process Step Below the Cell Marked
All Fifteen Values for Each Step is Entered. The Input for a Certain Step is the CTP or KPIV for that Step. The Output Fo
Step is the CTQ or KPOV for that Particular Step.
8. The Values for TPY/RTY/NORMY/DPU are Automatically Computed and Displayed.
9. Using the Process Sigma and DPMO Chart The Corresponding value for DPMO; Cp;Cpk and Process Sigma can be K

The table assumes a 1.5 sigma shift because
processes tend to exhibit instability of that magnitude
over time. In other words, although statistical tables
indicate that 3.4 defects / million is achieved when
4.5 process standard deviations (Sigma) are between
the mean and the closest specification limit, the
target is raised to 6.0 standard deviations to
accommodate adverse process shifts over time and
still produce only 3.4 defects per million opportunities.
