I DWELL IN POSSIBILITY

The poem “I DWELL IN POSSIBILITY” by Emily Dickinson discusses reality

and imagination. The theme of this poem is that imagination is better
than real life and it has no limits. Dickinson used different types of
imagery. One example is metaphors (windows) in line 3 which refer to more
opportunity in imagination . Another form of imagery is opposite (wide)
which can be seen in line 11 means that in realty her hands are small but in
imagination her hand are so big so she can gather the heaven (or) Paradise
is the farthest space conceivable, and the mind can expand to include it.
and this happens, because of the power of the imagination. The language is
simple because the poet is writing as if she is thinking out loud or speaking
to her friends. The tone of the poem is thoughtful and hopeful because
she has more opportunity in imagination that why she love it. The poem is in
free verses with no formal structure. It begins with describing her life like
an imaginary home and ending by gathering in her hands everything that she
wants in her imagination. I like this poem because it has a lot of beautiful
. images and a lot of hope too
