Animal Health Care Management NCIII

Overview
Animal Health Care Management NCIII consists of competencies that a person must
achieve in providing livestock health care in both backyard and commercial livestock farms under the
supervision of a veterinarian. This chapter will help the learners to familiarize themselves with the
different competency standards; basic competencies, common competencies and core comptencies
present in Animal Health Care Management NCIII. It will also help the learners to identify the tools,
materials and facilities use in Animal Health Care Management NCIII.

disposal of used bottles, storage of
unused drugs and biologics and
keeping of records.

The delivery of training should adhere to the design of the curriculum. Delivery should be guided by
the 10 basic principles of competency-based TVET.

 The training is based on curriculum developed from the competency standards;

 Training delivery is learner-centered and should accommodate individualized and self-paced
learning strategies;
 Training is based on work that must be performed;
 Training materials are directly related to the competency standards and the curriculum
modules;
 Assessment is based in the collection of evidence of the performance of work to the industry
required standard;
 Training program allows for recognition of prior learning (RPL) or current competencies;
 Training allows for multiple entry and exit; and
 Training programs are registered with UTPRAS.

TRAINEE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS


Trainees or students wishing to enroll in this course should possess the following requirements:
 Ability to communicate, both oral and written;
 Have attended training on Animal Production NC II or have had equivalent experience or have
been certified in the Units of Competency Raise Swine (AGR621303) and Raise Large
Ruminants (AGR621304)
 Physically fit and mentally healthy as certified by a Public Health Officer

The FOOD PROCESSING NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must have in

NCII

Overview
The Organic Agriculture NCII consists of competencies that a person must
achieve to produce organic farm products such as chicken and vegetables including producing
of organic supplements such as fertilizer, concoctions and extracts. It has two (2) elective
competencies which are on raising organic hogs and raising organic small ruminants.. This
chapter will help the learners to familiarize themselves with the different competency standards;
basic competencies, common competencies and core comptencies present in Organic
Agriculture NCII. It will also help the learners to identify the tools, materials and facilities use in
Organic Agriculture NCII.

Overview
The Pest Management consists of competencies that a person must
achieve in implementing pest management activities in both backyard and commercial
vegetable farms. This chapter will help the learners to familiarize themselves with the different

present in Pest Management NCII. It will also help the learners to identify the tools, materials
and facilities use in Pest Management NCII.

The PEST MANAGEMENT (VEGETABLES) NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a
person must achieve in implementing pest management activities in both backyard and commercial
vegetable farms. Specifically, it involves carrying out competencies in pest management in relation to
the growing of vegetables specifically solinaceous crops such as tomato, pepper and eggplant, and
crucifers such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and Chinese cabbage.
