II SEMESTER EXAMINATION
ADVANCED ENGINEERING DRAWING
Time : 2 hours ] [ Total Marks : 40
Important Note: Wherever any question has choice, marks will be allotted only to first
attempted question. No marks will be allotted for extra questions answered.

PART—A (8×2=16M)
Note: Answer ALL the questions. Each question carries 2 marks.
.

1. A hexagonal pyramid of base side 30 mm and height 60 mm is resting on H.P with its
base one of its base parallel and 10 mm in front of V.P. Draw its projections.
2. What is the true shape.
3. Draw the auxiliary view of the section of the truncated pentagonal prism shown in
figure.
4. Draw the isometric view from the orthographic views are shown in figure.

5. Draw the development of the pentagonal prism of the base side 25 mm and height
50mm.
6. Draw the development of a cube of side 60 mm.
7. What is the purpose of development of surface.
8. List the methods of development of surface.

PART—B (4×6=24M)

Note: Answer the following questions. Each question carries 6 marks

9. a) A hexagonal pyramid of base side 30 mm and axis 60 mm long has one of its base
edge 10 mm above the ground. Its axis is parallel and 40 mm in front of V.P and
inclined at 400 to ground. Draw its projections.
OR
9. b) A hexagonal pyramid side of base 30 mm and axis 65 mm long rests with its base
on H.P such that one of the edges of its base is perpendicular to V.P. It is cut by a
section plane perpendicular to H.P inclined at 450 to V.P and passing through the
pyramid at a distance of 10 mm from the axis. Draw the sectional front view and the
true shape of section.
10. a) Draw the auxiliary view of the sloping surface of the object shown in below figure.
OR

b) Draw the isometric view of a V-block whose orthographic projections are shown in
below figure.

10. a) A cone of base diameter 40 mm and slant height 60 mm is standing vertically on

HP. It is cut by a plane which is inclined at 45 0 to HP, perpendicular to VP and
passing through the midpoint of the axis. Develop the lateral surface of the frustum.
OR
11. b) A hexagonal prism of base edge 25 mm and height 60 mm is its rectangular face
parallel to V.P .It is cut by an oblique plane at 45 0 inclined to H.P and passing through
centre of the top. Draw the development of the lateral surface of the truncated
hexagonal prism.
12. a) A pentagonal pyramid side of base 36 mm and height 64 mm rests on its base on
HP with one of its base sides parallel to VP.A section plane perpendicular to VP and
inclined at 300 to HP cuts the pyramid bisecting the axis. Draw the development of the
truncated pyramid.
OR
12. b) Draw the development of lateral surface of a truncated pentagonal pyramid as
shown in below figure.
