Community people

15 villages in the district of Kalahandi have become free of defecation under CSR in March
2019. In Baterlima village, where villagers actively recounted their journey of transformation
regarding the importance of health and sanitation, a walk of pride was held to
commemorate this achievement. The community appreciated the support of Vedanta for
the sanitation program that brought about changes within the village.
In October 2017, the Vedanta CSR Department organized a guidance and demos session on
nutrition garden nutrition. The seeds were then distributed to farmers and seed demo. 60
farmers participated in this program.
Vedanta's commitment to help the livelihood initiative such as Jeevika Samridhi has been
appreciated by many nearby workers. "Vedanta's efforts to bring farmers forward to better
farming practices are very inspiring and help them deliver good results.
Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda under Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikas Yojana, congratulated students that
successfully completed their registration with their CSR flagship education project. In
collaboration with NGA AJKA, the VVVY Project began in 2009 with seven high school
children's tutorial centres covering 23 Jharsuguda villages. VVVY gives the Std students
corrective coaching assistance with a view to improving the performance of student of 8 th
and 7th standards in Odisha's higher secondary examinations. Since its inception, more than
3900 students from nearby towns have benefited from the initiative.
The congratulatory ceremony was attended by over 200 people, including students, parents,
teachers and community members. Encouraged by their success, the CSR team from
Vedanta aims to achieve greater success with the next batch which will appear next year for
their matriculation exam. In addition to the normal curriculum, next year's agenda will
include professional counselling courses and other co-curricular activities for students and
parents.
Aligned with the national cleanliness campaign, Vedanta Ltd. carried out its week-long
campaign for recognition and a sense of community engagement in preserving its clean
environment on September 30, 2017.
More than one hundred Siriapali residents, along with SEWA NGO partners and Subhalaxmi
Cooperative, participated in a cleanliness drive on October 3rd, which was anchored by the
CSR team of Vedanta Ltd to ensure the cleanliness of the village. The event began with a
pledge of smoothness, followed by a rally attended by women and leaders of all of Vedanta
Ltd.’s flagship CSR initiative.
More than 700 Vedanta family members committed themselves to cleanliness on the
occasion of the Vijaya Dashami in a unique gesture of helping this drive on 30 September
2017. Vedanta Ltd. CSR is committed to reaching out and translating' Swachhta Hi Sewa'
from feeling into habit with every Indian associated with the company. The company plans
to coordinate a week-long campaign with all stakeholders to raise awareness about the
value of cleanliness as a permanent process.
