Seashells are the armour that protect marine molluscs.
When molluscs grow, their shells grow along with
them, developing a pattern that is like tree rings, which
are called increments. They record information about
the environment in which the organism grew. Molluscs
live for a long time; they contain climate records that
span many years.
Ocean waters undergo a series of chemical reactions
known as ocean acidification, which causes carbonate
ions to decrease and hydrogen ions to increase,
lowering overall pH levels in the process. The ocean
chemical composition is known through its pH
concentration and the imbalance in the pH is reflected
in the growth of the increments of shells, which act as
indicators of quality of ocean.
These tiny shelled creatures also play a key role in the
marine food web and the ocean carbon cycle. About
30% of the carbon dioxide released is absorbed by
the world’s oceans and these emissions are utilized to
for a process called marine calcification. As the rise
in level of greenhouse emissions increased due to the
high level of man- made carbon emissions due the
high level of burning of fossil flues misbalancing the
equilibrium maintained in the deep oceans.
Due to the excessive ocean acidification, the corrosive
seawater makes these shells smoother, thinner and
less dense, thereby less chances of survival of these
molluscs, under extreme environment.

THE WORLD, A PL ANNER AND ME
Look outside for moment…
and appreciate the green.

Appreciate the hues of nature mixed with a tint of mean

A dash of profit for added benefit

Occasionally glancing to those trees;
Let’s do a swirl of development to cure the jumble
Maybe add in bans to silence the raging morals
Or maybe add curfews at night
So that life expectancy can mortality fight
And when all that’s done

PO ET RY Overlay of what remains:

The human conscious and urban fame
Not another war, they said
That’s cool. As long there’s no weapons,
Let’s cover it up with a mirage of peace
Peace that there will be no fighting: against crimes at least

Or maybe against trading rights

Maybe not against democratic rights
Security? Why bother

When we can have an open military weapons exchange!

Glance again to those greens
They seem to have darkened a bit
Maybe its just my eyes, or maybe it’s the air!

Its alright to have zero visibility in winter, adds to the hysterical affair
But who can be responsible for the deaths happening…?
All of which burns me straight into my deepest lair
I can’t take this anymore, how long must I suffer?
This is when the doctor said, ‘It’s alright. You’re going to be fine.’
She removes all the clutter and brings in inclusion
Clears the junction, without much confusion
She seems to be knowing what she does
But does falter sometimes;
And when she does, she brings in another layer
A layer of reconciliation and of trust

She asks me if it hurts with the medication, she prescribes

And you see, I have no choice but to recover from those wounds,

And say, ‘No, truly…I mustn’t lie’

IT’S ALL ABOUT TIME
I wish I hadn’t matured so fast, I tried to understand religion,
May be then, I’d not always end up last. Ventured into agnosticism,
I distinctly remember giving away a toy, Still in a state of confusion, I AM SHAHJAHANABAD
It broke my heart and stole my joy. Wondering if it’s all an illusion.
May be that’s when I first learned sacrifice,
I thought maybe then I’d suffice, I started dreaming,
In my parent’s eyes I would rise. Learnt to distinguish between dreams and fantasies, I speak of the reminiscence of those days as I shiver in fear,
Came to terms with my reality, When I had no soul to see but only occasional howls to hear.
I wish I hadn’t become so aware, And accepted my abstractivity. And all I could do was nothing but to sit in distress,
As I got to know the world better, friends got rare. As cousin Mehrauli, at the zenith of her age,
Soon I was trying hard to fit in, Soon I dived into sexuality, Restrained any who wished to egress.
Moving on and drifting away from Kin. Realising I wasn’t allowed to possess that quality. It was so, until he,
I learned about gender inequality, Dressed in purple robes, arrived with his chivalry,
I was in an ocean of possibilities, Questioned it every night not letting it get the best Who, mounted on their stallions,
Trying to swim to the island which felt homely. of me. Filled the air with gallops and my chest with bastions.
All I am today, is lonely, Never was I absorbed in self-pity, He brought her whom you still see dressed in red,
Drowning in the ocean of responsibilities. I decided to embrace and stand for my bevy. For he had much to leave none in the town unfed.
May be this is me learning how to survive, I was now no more a silent unpainted canvas,
Trying my best to be hopeful and live life. For clergy and noble and traders and workers,
I’m proud of who I’ve become.
Were never short of matters to discuss.
My journey has taught me a lot,
When i was growing and glowing, And yes, every day had festivity in itself.
But there’s still more to come.
I constructed my first opinion, But alas! My ecstasies were never eternal,
I’m still learning,
developed my personality, My dusk was near and he too, near his funeral.
Still a work in progress,
And accepted society’s Dominion, Alamgir had him behind bars.
Making sure I don&’t regress. His majesty degraded and so begun my downfall.
Struggling to preserve my individuality.
A veil was drawn across the face of my beautiful woman,
- Raj Chaudhary And so was between saffron and green and everything seemed inhuman.
Amity University, Noida Temples had forgotten to ring bells and deities to hear hymns,
For his son was intolerant towards all those who used to sing.
I had still to see worse,
For the setting sun brought with itself the merciless.
They sacked and looted, filled the streets with piles of bodies,
And left the Joyous joyless.
My setting sun further drowned in the intoxication of those days,
Such, as it never rose again to spread its rays.
A fake sun did rise from the west.
The air was again filled with gallops,
But now they felt like a thousand daggers stabbing my chest.
The last of his lineage was sentenced to eastern lands,
And my beautiful woman was now a garrison.
My people were caged within the bounds of my own fortress,
While they were set-free in their garden city’s lavishness.
If you walk down my aromatic lanes, they would take you back in time.
Cities were erected and pulled down,
But I still stand here as a memoir of my past,
For he was Shahjahan and I am Shahjahanabad.

CHANGE
It’s 21st century thing nowadays,
It keeps on fluctuating with time,
People are thinking of this day,
It’s reflecting today’s busy life,
Ideology is getting flawless in ways,
Knowledge is getting wide,
A negativity will teach you many ways,
A positivity will lead your future,
Make change as per your styles!!
