Title : Three- Day Orientation Seminar for Parent- Facilitators of the Learning
Delivery Modalities (LDM)
Cluster 3 (Brgy. Solano, San Miguel, Buntay, Licod)
Theme : K to 12 Learning Delivery Modes: Meeting the Needs of the 21 st Century
Learners
Participants : Grade 7 to 12 parents/ guardians
Date : September 28-30, 2020
Venue : Brgy. Hall (Brgy. Solano, San Miguel, Buntay, Licod)

Rationale:

The COVID-19 pandemic poses challenges to various sectors especially in

responding to basic rights. With the physical distancing and community quarantine
being among the measures to contain COVID- 19, basic education is among the sectors
heavily affected as schools and community learning centers are closed for physical
conduct of classes.
School opening will not necessarily mean traditional face-to-face learning in the
classroom. The physical opening will depend on the risk severity grading or
classification of a certain community pursuant to guidelines from the Department of
Health (DOH), the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging
Infectious Diseases in the Philippines and the Office of the President (OP). As the
government limits face-to-face interaction and prohibits mass gatherings, DepEd’s
blended learning approach would be implemented with students learning from online,
television, radio, and printed materials.
The learning delivery modalities that schools can adopt may be one or a
combination of the following, depending on the COVID-19 restrictions and the particular
context of the learners in the school or locality. But classes might still be done physically
in some areas, depending on the gravity of the outbreak by then.
Consequently, parents who will serve as facilitators of their children must also be
empowered and knowledgeable on what to do in these trying times. Topics on time
management, methodologies on how to avoid this deadly virus, and the learning
modalities to use are just some of the things that they need to know in order to provide
meaningful, safe and productive learning.
It is with these thoughts that this orientation seminar is conceptualized.

Objectives:
The orientation seminar aims to:
1. Orient/ Train parents and/ or guardians to know about the different learning
delivery modalities, how to contain the virus and the use of learning activity
sheets and weekly home learning plan;
2. Provide learners with ample opportunities to reflect on their own learning and
their central role in it;
3. Support the continuation of teaching and learning during the COVID-19
pandemic.
