Note 7 : After Completion of first CD it may ask to reboot. If it asked pls reboot
it. And remove the first CD and insert the second CD for continue installation.

37) INCASE OF CONTINUOUS REBOOT (SUN 64 – x86 after OS INSTALLED

DO AS FOLLOWING:
1. Edit GRUP mode (e)
2. Change the mode : kernel /platform/i86pc/multiboot to kernel
/platform/i86pc/multiboot kernel/unix

* Force system to boot in 32-bit mode. To make the change permanent

without having to edit the grub boot line everytime it boots edit the file in
'/boot/grub/menu.lst'

END of SUN SOLARIS V 5.10 Package.

COMPILER INSTALLATION
========================

NOTE : If we install Sun OS in PC which will not support GUI installation. So we

can install all tools from another windows machine through Xmanager software.

1) Comment (add # in front of string “console”) the following line in /etc/default/login

file.

#console

2) The gcc & c++ compiler is present already in the SunSolaris 5.10 – Fifth CD.

3) Insert the SunSolaris 5th CD.

4) Login as root.

5) # cd /cdrom/sol_10_606_x86_5/solaris_10/product

Note : Inside above path we have all SUNWxxxxx packages. So from this we
can add the packages that we needed. In this path we have “SUNWgcc” &
“SUNWgccs” packages for gcc & c++ compiler so this package we need to add.

6) # pkgadd –d /cdrom/sol_10_606_x86_5/Solaris_10/Product SUNWgcc

7) # pkgadd -d /cdrom/sol_10_606_x86_5/Solaris_10/Product SUNWgccS

END of GCC – Compiler Installation.

Creating Production User for SunSolaris

Step 1: Login to root user.

Step 2: Execute the following Command.

# useradd -d /u02/vabcrd -s /bin/tcsh -c"VABCRD" -m vabcrd

Step 3: Change Password for the SunOs production user.

#passwd vabcrd

Step 1: Login to root user.

Step 2: Execute the following Command.

# useradd -d /u02/vabapp -s /bin/tcsh -c"VABFRTEND" -m vabapp

Step 3: Change Password for the SunOs production user.

#passwd vabapp
