SUBIECTUL I (30 puncte) Varianta 068

Read the text below and complete the following tasks.

The trouble with television news bulletins is that not only will they never please all the people all
the time; they’ll probably annoy most of the people a lot of the time. In only half an hour they cover the
globe and struggle to do the impossible.
All the words in one television bulletin would fit onto just the front page of one large newspaper. …
(1). No one reads a newspaper from cover to cover: readers can flick through and find the item they
want. On television, they have to sit through all the stories they don’t want and may be disappointed if
their particular interest isn’t featured.
The typical news story contains a twenty-second introduction from the presenter, two twenty-
second quotes from key people, forty seconds of commentary over pictures, and then a reporter
summing everything up. … (2). Television is the hardest, most demanding kind of journalism there is.
Some viewers complain that bulletins should be longer and go into much more detail. … (3). And
how much of the news do people really take in anyway? I doubt if anyone ever watches the news from
start to finish, and concentrates all the way through. There is no right answer, no perfect bulletin. …
