CBSE Class 10 Mathematics Exam Pattern 2019

All the class 10 students who will be appearing for their CBSE Maths Exam tomorrow, would
be anxious about what type of questions will be asked in the exam and what will be their
difficulty level. As far as the difficulty level of Class 10 Maths exam is considered , experts
after analysing the trends of previous years exams and latest syllabus and examination
pattern, are expecting the paper to be easy. So, students need to be aware about the
question paper design following which they can plan the exam writing technique to score
maximum marks.

In this article, we are presenting the CBSE Class 10 Mathematics examination pattern,
question paper design and chapter-wise weightage expected to be followed in CBSE Class
10 Maths Board Exam. Here, we will also discuss the structure of latest assessment scheme
in class 10.

CBSE Class 10 Mathematics Exam Pattern to be followed in Board Exam 2019, is explained
below:

From the last academic session the examination pattern for CBSE Class 10 was changed
with the reintroduction of compulsory board examinations. Under the altered assessment
scheme, now Class 10 Maths exam is conducted annually by CBSE for 80 marks covering
100% syllabus of the subject. Other 20 marks are kept with schools for internal assessment
(IA).

IA comprises:

Periodic Tests (PT) with weightage of 10 marks each

Notebook Submission of 5 marks

Subject Enrichment Activities of 5 marks.

Relaxation in passing criteria: Overall 33% marks are required to pass a subject

CBSE has extended the passing criteria relaxation for the Class 10 examination, according
to which candidates appearing for Class 10 examination in 2019 onwards will have to
secure overall 33 percent marks (internal and external included) in the subjects to be eligible
to pass that subject.

CBSE Class 10 Maths Question Paper Design is explained below:

As per the latest sample paper, released by the CBSE Board, the question paper design for
CBSE Class 10 Mathematics Board Exam 2019 will be according to the following format:

The Maths question paper will comprise of a total of 30 questions divided into four sections,
viz., A, B, C and D.

Candidates must provide a stepwise solution to every question as separate marks will be
provided for each step.

Also, candidates must be very careful about writing the conclusion at the end of each
question which definitely carries half to one mark depending upon the total marks assigned
to that question.

Important Note: From the upcoming board exams, there will be an increase in total number
of internal choices provided in the CBSE Class 10 Maths board question paper. An increase
in the internal choice of approximately 33 percent in all the sections and for each type of
question will be employed.
Internal choices shall be provided for:

2 questions from the set of 1 mark questions

2 questions from the set of 2 marks questions

4 questions from the set of 3 marker questions

3 questions from the set of 4 marker questions
