EW Zealand band Crowded House were

N formed in 1985 hom the embers of Split Enz

by Neil Finn along with drummer Paul
Hester and bassist Nick Seymour. Their
eponymous first album saw huge success in
Australia and New Zealand \vith hits like Don't
Dream It's Over and Something So Strong.
Disappointing sales of 1988's Temple Of The Low
Men created a lull and Neil's brother Tim Finn
revitalised the group for Woodface (1991) which
included the hit Weather With You. After Tim left
he was replaced by guitarist Mark Hart for
Together Alone (1993) which featured Distant Sun.

!iON6 !iTRUCTURE
The intro features an acoustic guitar with a capo
on the third fret (fig 1), joined by jangly electric
arpeggios. The whole band plays for the first and
second verse, \vith the acoustic continuing
strumming. After the chorus, verses ,3and 4 and a
second chorus are followed by the middle section the solo (fig.3), The chorus follows and then fades
(fig,2), featming staccato barre chords leading into out on an E~ G Aj, ! Cm G Aj, refrain. TI'rn'i
