MODE OF TEACHING AND LEARNING FOR 2O2O I2O21 ACADEMIC YEAR

Fottowing the President's directive for atl tertiary institutions to resume studies in
January 2021, the University has pubtished its finat 2020-2021 academic catendar for
graduate, undergraduate and distance students.

The mode of teaching and [earning remains same as approved by the University's
Business and Executive Committee (BEC) during its 1Oth September 2020 meeting, and
announced on 11th September by a circular from the Registrar. We are reminded of the
arrangements as fottows:

Modular system for Teaching and Learning for Undergraduate Students


Teaching and learning witt be detivered through a modutar mode of instruction for
regutar undergraduate students. Consequentty, the regutar teaching period of thirteen
weeks witt be detivered over a period of six weeks of teaching, resulting in more contact
hours each week. This witt be fottowed by a week of revision and two weeks of
examinations.

Online Teaching and Learning


Teaching, learning and continuous assessments for both undergraduate and graduate
students witt be detivered primarily ontine. Continuous assessment witt constitute 50-
70% of final examinations. Practical and ctinical courses witt be taught in the face-to-
face mode, white enforcing the necessary COVID-19 safety protocots. Units Heads are
expected to oversee the management of face-to-face interactions according to each
Unit's pecutiar needs.

The Sakai Learning Management System (LMS) witt be the key medium for instruction.
Teaching witt be largety asynchronous. Course instructors who need to have some
synchronous teaching sessions shoutd seek permission from their Dean/Director and
refer to the master teaching timetabte to be provided by the Academic Affairs
Directorate for avaitabte stots.

The mode of finat examinations wi[[ be communicated soon.

Tutorials
Deans and Directors, under the supervision of Provosts, are to ensure provision of
tutorial services within their units. Peer tutoring among students shoutd atso be
encouraged.

lT Preparedness
Measures have been taken to upgrade the University's information technotogy (lT)
infrastructure and extend our Wifi footprint. Additionat storage has been procured and
more access points have been deptoyed. Computer laboratories at UGCS, Batme Library
and the various Cotteges witt be made avaitabte to students without appropriate
technotogicaI devices.

Counsetting support witl be avaitabte and witt be provided by the Careers and
