Components of Mission Statement: -

1. Customers:
Missions directed to the consumer. In terms of meeting or offering solutions to consu
mer needs, customeroriented missions characterise the organisation's purpose. They of
fer greater versatility than productoriented activities and can be readily adapted to evo
lving conditions. For instance, the statement "connecting people" by Nokia is custome
roriented. It does not rely solely on cell phones or smartphones. It offers a solution to t
he needs of consumers and could have worked easily 50 years ago, and will continue t
o work in the future. It also gives the firm more strategic versatility. In the case of No
kia, it could start providing VoIP software to allow calls to be made over the internet
and it will still be valid for its mission.
2. Product/Service:
-Product/serviceoriented missions concentrate on what goods or services to serve rath
er than what consumer solutions to provide. These statements provide the business wit
h less flexibility, since most goods have a short life cycle and provide small market ex
pansion. A company that defines its business as "providing the best products for healt
h insurance" may fail to extend to other categories of insurance products.
3. Market: It means where your firm is working which sector or which market is
handling global companies will do marketing globally it means they handle more than
one market and some companies do business in one market e.g. Asia
4. Concern for Survival, Growth & Profitability: The Business we are running would
have concern for survival and growth to achieve profit and if there I a non profit
organization it has a concern of impact in market and to manage is funds In our
Mission Statement sometimes it is included that we will impact that segment, people
and we will earn through this and not all mission Statement include this Point.
5. Philosophy: It Means that what is the philosophy of the firm a what belief the firm
has and what priorities they have set for accomplishment. There could be something
like customer priority, there could be something quality product etc.
6. Concern for Public Image: It means how much responsive is your firm in issues like
societal and environmental concerns. e.g. the recycling goods company has a policy
that we would be not using plastic bag we will be using paper bags.
7. Technology: It Means is the firm using latest technology for manufacturing selling
and for customer interaction. Technology has important effects on business
operations. No matter the size of your enterprise, technology has both tangible and
intangible benefits that will help you make money and produce the results your
customers’ demand. Technological infrastructure affects the culture, efficiency and
relationships of a business. It also affects the security of confidential information and
trade advantages.
8. Self-Concept: It means that wat is the firm Self-concept for example if you are
writing your mission statement you should write about yourself your company not
about other Core competencies allow small businesses to deliver value to their
customers, but what are core competencies? The litmus test is that it is hard for
competitors to copy or develop. company could be the design of high-speed
microprocessors or efficient Internet search algorithms, both of which are difficult
to replicate. Businesses can develop core competencies by identifying key internal
strengths and investing in the capabilities valued by their customers. Core
competence refers to the particular skills and experience possessed by a company that
makes it different from its competitors. It is made up of a mix of different resources,
skills and knowledge through which a company acquires a unique position in the
market. For Example, Dell says I am computer company I am doing business
worldwide.
9. Concern for Employees: Employees are major contributors to profits and worth of
the organization. Therefore, employees are the most valuable assets an organization
has. It's their abilities, knowledge, and experience that can't be replaced.
