Cultural Description of Narsingdi :
Narsingdi is a district in central Bangladesh. It is located 50 km north-east of
Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Dhaka division. The district is
famous for It’s textile craft industry. Narsingdi is bordered by Kishoreganj in
the north and north- east, Brahmanbaria in the east and Sourh-east, Narayanganj
in the south and
south-west and Gazipur in the west.
Now we describe about the culture of Narsingdi in below:

Food
The main food of Bangladesh is rice and fish. The people of Narsingdi are fond of
rice and food. They fond of having fish. Various types of fishes are available in
Meghna and Shitalakkhya river which are situated in Narsingdi. It is famous for
banana in whole Bangladesh. Moreover, here people eat vegetables, chicken, meal
erc.
Dress
Dress is very important for everyone and it is also a fashion. Men of
Narsingdi wear Lungi as a common dress of all ages of men. They wear
shirt-pant or suits on formal occasions. Traditionally they wear Panjabi
and pajama on religious and cultural occasions. They also wear T-shirt
in regular.
The main dress of women is sharee. They wear sharee in difference
occasions and also wear in regular dress. Young females wear salwaar
kameez and skirt. Women are also wearing western dresses in
Narsingdi. They wear t-shirt too. But muslim women wear hijab and
burka which is an enveloping outer garment normally wear above the
other deesses.
Language
The local laguage of Narsingdi district is Bengali. The national and official
language of Bangladesh isBengali which is spoken by the majority of
population. In Narsingdi, the proper Bengali is used generally all over the
country. Some people learn many abroad language for job or higher
study in abroad.

Religion
Religion is a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion and faith in
Allah. According to the census,mostly muslims live in Narsingdi which is
84%. The number of people of each religion are given below:
• Muslim- 961614
• Hindu - 173962
• Christian- 8461
• Buddhist- 126
• Other- 391

Race
The excited and interesting race is celebrated in Narsingdi almost every year
which is called boat race. It’s also spelt Nowka Baich. It is a traditional
dragon boat style rowing sport of Bangladesh. The races are held
during the wet and autumn seasons of the Bengali celendar. The race is
very enjoyable for the people of Narsingdi. The people of another
district also enjoy the race.

Gender
The population of Narsingdi district are 1895984. Among them the
male population are 974026 and female population are 921958.
Festivals

The festivals are expensive way to celebrate glorious heritage, culture and
traditions. Festivals play an important role to add structure to our social lives and
connect us with our families and backgrounds. There are some festivals in
Narsingdi district which are organised by local people of Narsingdi. Book fair,
science fair, Baishakhi fair etc. are the most popular festivals in Narsingdi. All of
them are celebrated in every year in thin district.

Tourist Spots
There are also some tourist spots in Narsingdi. The wari bateshwar is very popular
and famous spot for tourists. There are many old things in this place. Moreover,
there are some park too in Narsingdi. The Dream Holiday Park is very popular for all
people specially young. Named of Heritage Resort is a new park which is made in
narsingdi. So, there are many tourist spots in this district and here people come
everyday to emjoy and see the beauty.
Economy
Narsingdi is an industrial area of Bangladesh. The Manchester of
Oriental, called Baburhat is situated in Narsingdi district. The small and
medium industries of cotton and cloth are increasing day by day which
fills the employment aids of the local people. The rural economy of
Narsingdi is agriculture. People of rural area crop many vegetables and
rices. Besides, many people do job in many offices amd bank. There are
many bank in Narsingdi. Among them Brack bank, Dutch Bangla bank
are very popular in all Bangladesh.
